What is the biological phenomenon that humans generally get during aging, gradual loss of muscle mass, strength, and function?
This is known as Sarcopenia!
Sarcopenia is basically a progressive loss of muscle mass, strength, and function as a person advances in years... the loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength as a function of aging... Life may be not so great, depending on the individual.
Here we will delve into & dissect several methods through which to PREVENT sarcopenia:
(walk around as much as possible, if you can stand -- just do NOT sit, OK? -- and if you can sit, do NOT lie down!!!!)
No matter what, when an old man or woman falls ill, and is hospitalized, don’t call him/her for more rest, lie down, be relaxed, and/or get out of bed... it’s not help. Assist them to walk… assuming they did not lose endurance to do that.
Just one week of lying down about 5% of your muscle mass disappears! And sadly the elderly are unable to reheal the lost muscles!
As a result, most of them, especially seniors/elderly who hire assistants lose muscle much more quickly than active ones!
Even scarier than osteoporosis is sarcopenia! With osteoporosis, you just have to be careful of falling, sarcopenia not only begets lower quality of life but also causes high blood sugar via reduced muscle mass!
In the limbs, the loss (atrophy) of the fastest muscles — in this case, the legs — occurs due to idleness. When it is in a sitting/lying position, the legs are inactive, and the power of the muscles of the legs is always affected. You are especially to pay utmost attention to this! Stairs, weight, walking /running/cycling are all great exercises / And can help develop muscle mass! Move & don't waste your muscles, for a quality life in old age. The feet are where aging begins. Maintain your legs, strong and active!
We age day by day, and our feet need to remain active and strong always.
2 weeks without moving your legs → your actual leg strength will be reduced by 10 years.
Hence regular exercises and activities such as walking, cycling etc are very essential.
The feet are a sort of columns that bear the whole weight of the human body.... So,
Walk every day!
