LUDA Launches Annual Community Service Recognition and Award Ceremony in Burten, District #8

SACLEPEA CITY - In a move to promote unity, peace, and development, the Leesonnon United Development Association (LUDA) has officially launched the "Pelehleeba Community Service Annual Recognition and Award Ceremony" in Burten, District #8.

The event, held over the weekend, brought together community leaders, the Representative of District #8, Hon. Saye Mianah, and prominent sons and daughters of the district from Monrovia and other parts of Nimba County.

The initiative seeks to honor individuals both living and deceased who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of the district and the chiefdom in areas such as education, health, religion, leadership, and sports.

Speaking during the launch, LUDA Chairman Mr. Erastus Mianah emphasized the importance of the event, noting that it aims to appreciate and preserve the legacies of community members who have played impactful roles.
“This is just the beginning. We are recognizing 20 individuals from across the district—some alive, others deceased. We will continue this annually to appreciate our fathers, mothers, and community contributors who helped shape our chiefdom,” Mr. Mianah said.

In his remarks, Representative Saye Mianah praised the organizers for creating such a platform to celebrate contributors while they are still alive.
“This is a great step for our community giving people their flowers while they can still smell them. It fosters unity and encourages continued service,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the honorees, Madam Ruthline Saye Bento, who received an award in honor of her late father, expressed heartfelt appreciation.
“We are grateful to LUDA for recognizing our fathers, mothers, and leaders. This means a lot to us, and we hope this tradition continues,” she said.

The Pelehleeba Community Service Recognition and Award Ceremony is expected to become a major annual event in District #8, reinforcing the district’s culture of appreciation and acknowledgement of service.
