Southern Fried Catfish & Shrimp Over Creamy Grits ๐๐ค

Ingredients ๐
For the Fried Catfish
4 catfish fillets ๐
1 cup cornmeal ๐ฝ
ยฝ cup flour
1 tsp salt ๐ง
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp paprika ๐ถ๏ธ
ยฝ tsp cayenne pepper
1 egg ๐ฅ
ยฝ cup buttermilk ๐ฅ
Vegetable oil for frying
For the Cajun Shrimp
1 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined ๐ค
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp Cajun seasoning
ยฝ tsp garlic powder ๐ง
ยฝ tsp smoked paprika
ยฝ tsp lemon juice ๐
For the Creamy Grits
1 cup stone-ground grits
4 cups chicken broth ๐
ยฝ cup heavy cream ๐ฅ
3 tbsp butter ๐ง
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese ๐ง
Salt & pepper to taste
For the Spicy Butter Sauce
3 tbsp butter ๐ง
1 tsp hot sauce ๐ถ๏ธ
ยฝ tsp honey ๐ฏ
ยฝ tsp Cajun seasoning
Instructions ๐จโ๐ณ
Step 1: Fry the Catfish
Heat oil in a pan to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and cayenne.
In another bowl, whisk egg and buttermilk.
Dip catfish in the buttermilk mixture, then dredge in the cornmeal mixture.
Fry for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
Step 2: Sautรฉ the Shrimp
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
Toss shrimp with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and lemon juice.
Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and slightly charred.
Step 3: Make the Creamy Grits
Bring chicken broth to a boil.
Stir in grits, reduce heat, and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Stir in heavy cream, butter, cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper.
Step 4: Prepare the Spicy Butter Sauce
Melt butter in a pan, then stir in hot sauce, honey, and Cajun seasoning.
Drizzle over the catfish and shrimp.
Step 5: Assemble & Serve
Spoon creamy grits onto a plate.
Top with crispy catfish and Cajun shrimp.
Drizzle with spicy butter sauce and garnish with fresh parsley.
