There are jobs paying $80,000 a year that companies cannot fill.
Not because the roles are hard to find. Because most people don't recognize them when they see them.
Right now, across the US, Canada, UK, and Australia — AI-adjacent roles are sitting open for months. Not the obvious ones. Not "prompt engineer" or "AI researcher." The ones hiding in plain sight inside departments people never think to look: operations, compliance, healthcare admin, local government, logistics.
These roles don't require a computer science degree. Many don't require coding at all. They require one thing most applicants don't have yet: a working understanding of how AI tools function inside a real business environment. That's it. That's the gap.
A report from the World Economic Forum flagged that AI-related skill gaps are widening faster than companies can train for them internally. So they're hiring outside. But because the job titles don't always say "AI" — they say things like "Process Automation Analyst" or "AI Implementation Coordinator" — the listings sit quietly while thousands of qualified people scroll past without realizing what they're looking at.
The bigger picture is this: we are inside a transition window. It won't last forever. The people who recognize these roles now — and take six to eight weeks to build the right foundational knowledge — are the ones who will look back in three years and say they timed it right. Everyone else will say they saw it coming and did nothing.
💬 Be honest — if you saw a listing for "AI Operations Specialist" would you have clicked it, or scrolled past?
