Texas: where people move here because of the Hill Country, rivers, deserts, ranchland, wide-open skies, and peaceful small-town backroads… then immediately start bulldozing all of it into endless subdivisions named things like “Canyon Creek Ranch” after flattening the actual canyon and removing every cedar tree within a five-mile radius. 🌵💀
One minute it’s: • bluebonnets covering the fields in spring • quiet two-lane roads winding through the Hill Country • crystal-clear rivers flowing over limestone • old ranch fences stretching to the horizon • sunsets so big they barely look real • small towns with local diners and feed stores still standing
Then suddenly: BOOM.
Now it’s: • 4,200 identical beige houses • fake ponds called “The Lakes at Mesa Vista” • nonstop traffic where cattle used to graze • chain restaurants every half mile • and one lonely decorative cactus surviving beside the subdivision entrance sign. 😭
Texas’ natural beauty is literally why people fall in love with this state.
The Hill Country. The rivers. The deserts. The pine forests of East Texas. The Gulf Coast. The canyons. The massive open skies where storms roll in for miles. 🌄🌩️
Once that gets covered in concrete and endless development… you don’t really get that Texas back.
Not every ranch needs to become “Luxury Homes Starting In The 800s.”
Sometimes the best part of Texas is the part that still feels wild, quiet, and untouched. ✋🤠

This is an aerial view of the old beach race course at Daytona Beach, FL They raced on the beach and made a turn onto Highway A1A for 2 miles, and then back onto the beach. The final race was in 1958 an won by Paul Goldsmith who also started on the pole with a speed of 140.57.
