đŋ International Mother Language Day â Honoring the Martyrs of 1952 đ¤
Today, we pay tribute to the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for the right to speak in their mother tongue. On this day in 1952, the people of Bangladesh (then East Pakistan) stood up against oppression and fought to preserve the dignity of their language, Bangla. Their sacrifice paved the way for linguistic and cultural freedom, not only for Bangladesh but also for language movements across the world.
In recognition of this historic event, UNESCO declared February 21 as International Mother Language Day in 1999, reminding us of the importance of linguistic diversity and the right to speak in one's native language.
Letâs celebrate this day by respecting all languages, embracing cultural diversity, and preserving our linguistic heritage.
đš Salute to our language martyrs!
đš Love and respect for all mother tongues!
