আমি যদি আরব হতাম,
আমি যদি সাহাবীদের যুগে জন্মাতাম...
তবে হয়তো প্রতিটি সকাল শুরু হতো মদিনার বাতাসে হৃদয় ভিজিয়ে।
হয়তো পথের ধুলোয় হেঁটে যেতাম সেই ঘরের পাশ দিয়ে
যেখানে নেমে আসত ওহির বার্তা।

আমি যদি সেই যুগে জন্মাতাম,
তবে হয়তো উম্মে সালমা (রা.)-এর ধৈর্য,
ফাতিমা (রা.)-এর লজ্জাশীলতা,
আয়েশা (রা.)-এর জ্ঞান ও প্রজ্ঞা ও
খাদিজা (রা.)-এর আত্মত্যাগ-
আমার আদর্শ হতো প্রতিটি পদক্ষেপে,
অনুপ্রেরণা হতো আমার জীবনের!

হয়তো আমার হৃদয় কাঁপতো যখন শুনতাম,
“রাসূলুল্লাহ (সা.) আজ মসজিদে নববীতে আছেন।”
আমি হয়তো দূর থেকেই এক নজর দেখতে চাইতাম সেই মুখ,
যার দিকে তাকিয়ে সাহাবীরা ঈমান নবায়ন করতেন!

আহ! যদি সেই যুগে জন্মাতাম...
হয়তো আমার হাতে খেজুরপাতার ঝুড়ি থাকতো,
কিন্তু হৃদয়ে থাকতো জান্নাতের আশা।
আমি হয়তো থাকতাম পর্দার আড়ালে,
তবুও হৃদয়ের প্রতিটি স্পন্দনে থাকতো আল্লাহর প্রেম।

হৃদয়ে থাকতো দুনিয়া জয়ের চেয়ে বড় এক আশা-
আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টি ও জান্নাতের প্রতিশ্রুতি!
তবু জানতাম, আমার মর্যাদা লেখা হচ্ছে ফেরেশতার হাতে।

আমি যদি আরব হতাম....
