Our precious boy, 🦢
Today you turned one.
One whole year of loving you, holding you, learning you, and growing with you. Sometimes I look at you and still cannot believe that I am your mother. It feels like yesterday when I first heard you crying and the world around me disappeared. In that moment, nothing else mattered. The pain, the fear, the exhaustion — all of it faded the second I saw your little face for the first time in that labor room at the hospital.
I still remember holding you against my chest for the very first time. You were so tiny, so warm, so fragile, and yet somehow you made me feel stronger than I had ever been. I looked into your eyes and silently promised you that no matter what life brought us, I would protect you, love you, and give you everything I had in me.
But what nobody saw was how scared I was.
I became your mother without a village. No crowd of helping hands. No endless support. No one standing beside me every night... It was just me, your Baba, and you — in a foreign land, far away from family, trying to figure out parenthood one day at a time.
I learned everything about you on my own.
I learned your cries.
I learned how you liked to be held.
I learned how to calm your fears while hiding my own.
I stayed awake countless nights watching your chest rise and fall just to make sure you were breathing okay.
I searched for answers when I felt lost.
I made mistakes and learned from every single one.
I carried the weight of postpartum silently while still showing up for you every single day.
There were days I felt exhausted beyond words. Days when I cried quietly because motherhood felt heavier than I expected. Days when I missed the person I used to be while trying to become the mother you needed. My body was tired, my mind was overwhelmed, and my heart was stretched in ways nobody could see.
But then you would smile at me.
And suddenly every sleepless night, every sacrifice, every tear became worth it.
Through you, Allah gave my life a kind of love I had never known before. A love so deep it changed me forever.
Your Baba and I raised you with our own hands. Through stress, loneliness, worries, homesickness, and the hardships of building a life far from home — we still made sure you felt loved every single day. We may not have had a village, but we built our little world around you with every ounce of strength we had.
Every milestone of yours felt like our victory too.
Your first smile.
Your first laugh.
First rolls and crawls.
The first time you reached for us, walking.
The first time you called for us even with your eyes.
Every tiny thing became a memory carved into my heart forever.
You will probably never fully know how much of me lives inside you.
How many nights I chose your comfort over my sleep.
How many times I put myself last just to make sure you had everything.
How deeply I worried.
How fiercely I loved.
Motherhood made me stronger, softer, braver, and more vulnerable all at once.
Thank you for choosing me to be your mother.
If one day life becomes difficult for you and you ever question how loved you are, I hope you remember this:
Before you could even speak, before you could even walk, there was already someone in this world willing to give up everything for your happiness.
And that someone will always be me.
Happy first birthday, Taraz ✨
You are my heart walking outside my body.
And I will love you for the rest of my life.🫶
Love,
Mummy&Baba ❤️❤️
