Our HQ team have explored Brisbane, Queensland, alongside the teams at the aBrisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA) and Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (), and with local Advocates who have helped secure global congresses for the city.

As host of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Brisbane is operating within a long-term legacy framework through Elevate 2042. On the ground, our conversations with local Advocates and the BEDA and BCEC teams focused on sector priorities including biomedical research, resources and energy, and on BCEC’s new bio-innovation bursary, launched at AIME 2026 and discussed with HQ just one week later in the city.

A sincere thank you to the BCEC and BEDA teams for their warm welcome and professionalism throughout our visit.

Kia ora! What a week in Aotearoa New Zealand! 🥝

The New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) has officially opened in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland marking a major milestone for the country’s meetings industry.

From SailGP on the harbour to Wētā Workshop Unleashed and the All Blacks Experience with former rugby player Ian Jones, and down to Rotorua for engaged conversations with Māori-owned businesses, this visit showed how infrastructure, culture and stewardship work together.

To offset our visit and leave a lasting legacy in the country, two native kānuka trees will be planted, supporting forest regeneration in Aotearoa New Zealand. And we’ve only scratched the surface!

Thank you to Tourism New Zealand, New Zealand International Convention Centre, Auckland Convention Bureau and RotoruaNZ for the warm welcome.

2026 came to a close in Melbourne after a record-breaking edition that showcased consistent growth across the APAC region.

Alongside high levels of participation, the week saw the formation of new partnerships, the announcement of new destinations and the achievement of significant milestones. The marked its 60th anniversary, while the celebrated its 30th. There were also updates about the upcoming !

Next: NewZealand and Brisbane. Keep an eye out for our stories on the opening of the New Zealand International Convention Centre and the 30th anniversary of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
