Officially out today and available on vinyl, first release on sublabel Cortizona Heritage, in co-operation with Studiecentrum Vlaamse Muziek:

WIM FANFARE - Free Music (1975 - 1988)

(250 copies, Bandcamp-link in bio)

WIM FANFARE was formed by Fred Van Hove in 1975 to announce the newly started annual Free Music Festival in Antwerp, Belgium. Together with his musical fellows Ivo Vander Borght, André Goudbeek & Cel Overberghe they emerged as the unruly street-arm of the Werkgroep Improviserende Musici (Workshop for Improvising Musicians).

Delivering a unique sound and blending the exuberance of a marching band with the unpredictability of free improvisation, they brought raw, joyful musical jazz to city squares & unsuspecting audiences.

This lp documents a remarkable ensemble and lesser-known period in Fred Van Hove’s inimitable career.

With never before published photographs by Gérard Rouy, extra insert with drawing by Cel Overberghe and expanded liner notes.

Layout by Joke Leonare
Tape transfer by Gert Van Hoof
Mastering by Frédéric Alstadt

Recommended if you like Fred Van Hove, Art Ensemble Of Chicago, Full Moon Trio, MLB3, Sun Ra Arkestra, Moondog, The Muppet Show Band going wild in the streets, Irreversible Entanglements, ICP Orchestra, Global Unity Orchestra & other excellent music.

Protopunk spirit and ace jazz misfits vibes!

'Sorry, No Silence' vinyl by DJ Marcelle finally arrived and ready to send out. Still available to order too, by the way. Bandcamp link in bio (also available directly from me or in a good record store).

All proceeds of this release will go to Palestine Children's Relief Fund. For obvious reasons, sadly enough.

Proud to announce the new 12" by the one and only DJ Marcelle/Another Nice Mess on Cortizona, titled 'Sorry, No Silence'.

Digital release out now, vinyl expected mid June.

Some time ago, she sent me the digital files of her new LP 'Sorry, No Service'.

One of the tracks, 'Sorry, No Silence', features the Nan Goldin sample: 'this is clearly ethnic cleansing', taken from Goldin's impressive speech to which the audience cheered in support at the opening of her exhibition at the Neue Nationalgallerie in Berlin end of 2024.

Two weeks later Marcelle contacted me again: her German label refused to release the track.

The album is due to be released later this year, but, with things as they are in Gaza, it is important to issue 'Sorry, No Silence' as a stand-alone track as soon as possible.

For obvious reasons the proceeds of this 12 inch and the digital Bandcamp release will be donated to PCRF, Palestine Children's Relief Fund. Support more than welcome.
And sharing is still caring.

Electronics & bass played by DJ Marcelle/Another Nice Mess

Recorded at home in Amsterdam, February/March 2025
Mastered and cut by Frédéric Alstadt at Mont Analogue

Sleeve design by Marcelle Van Hoof
Lay out by Joke Leonare
