The Story Behind the Pink Duck Race
Sometimes, a powerful movement begins with something very simple.

TOGETHER WE FIGHT BREAST CANCER!

The Pink Duck Race is far more than a fun event on the water. It is a meaningful initiative that brings people together in the fight against breast cancer. With thousands of pink rubber ducks floating side by side, the event creates awareness, hope, solidarity, and support for those affected by the disease.

The concept is simple yet incredibly powerful: people symbolically adopt a pink duck. Each duck represents a contribution toward research, prevention, and support for patients and families facing breast cancer. What may seem like a small gesture becomes a major impact when thousands participate together.

That is the true strength of the Pink Duck Race: unity.

Families, companies, schools, friends, and volunteers all come together around one shared purpose. The initiative transforms a difficult topic into a positive and accessible movement. Instead of focusing on fear, the event spreads energy, compassion, and human connection.

During the race, rivers and waterways turn completely pink. It is a striking image — not only because it looks spectacular, but because every duck symbolizes a personal story. Someone fighting. Someone surviving. Someone remembered. And thousands of people choosing to stand together for a better future.

What makes the Pink Duck Race truly special is its inclusiveness. Anyone can participate. You do not need to be wealthy, famous, or influential to make a difference. Even one duck can contribute to something much bigger.

Beyond fundraising, the initiative also raises awareness about the importance of early detection, research, and community support. Through its playful and positive approach, the campaign reaches people of all ages and backgrounds, inspiring action in a way that feels hopeful and uplifting.

The Pink Duck Race proves that meaningful change does not always start with grand speeches or complex plans.

Sometimes, it simply starts with people coming together, adopting a small pink duck, and believing that every contribution matters.

Because in the end, the race is not really about winning. It is about moving forward together.

Diplomatic World Institute Opens a Permanent Representation in the Legendary Five-Star Hotel Fürstenhof Leipzig

Germany – (Leipzig), 27th March 2026 – With the opening of a new branch at the historic Leipzig Fürstenhof, the Diplomatic World Institute isvsending a clear signal for dialogue, international cooperation, and trustworthy communication in anvincreasingly complex world.

As an independent think tank and international dialogue platform, the Diplomatic World Institute bringsvtogether representatives from politics, business, and culture. It sees itself as an internationally activevbridge between nations, markets, and cultures, creating spaces for solution-oriented exchange on key future topics.

Last Friday, more than 100 invited guests from diplomacy, politics, business, and culture gathered to celebrate the official opening of the new branch. Among them were honorary consuls, government representatives, entrepreneurs, and artists from across Germany, who used the evening for in -depth discussions on current global developments.

“We will once again bring together diplomats and representatives from around the world in Leipzig for discussions,” explained Barbara Dietrich, CEO of Diplomatic World and co-founder of the Diplomatic World Institute. She is considered one of the leading figures in the international diplomatic environment and has been committed for years to global dialogue and exchange between decision-makers.

Leipzig was deliberately chosen as the location, as it has stood for international exchange, trade, and encounters for centuries. The Fürstenhof as a historic venue underlines this aspiration and combines tradition with a new platform for modern diplomatic formats.

Lucille Kristiansen, host of the LUMIÈRE Boutique Hotel and representative of the Diplomatic World Institute in Leipzig and Berlin, emphasized: “At this place, where diplomacy and trade have always been closely linked, we aim to set new impulses and actively promote international dialogue.”

The new branch is intended as a meeting and discussion platform for international stakeholders. Regular discussion formats, events, and interdisciplinary exchange formats are planned, placing personal
dialogue at the center.

In a time of growing global challenges, direct and trustworthy communication is becoming increasingly important. The Leipzig branch of the Diplomatic World Institute aims to make an active contribution and sustainably strengthen exchange between international decision-makers.

On 6 November 2025, Brussels hosted the latest edition of the Aquí Europa Awards, presided over by José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain. Aquí Europa, the only Spanish-language media outlet fully based in Brussels, with over 30 years of experience covering EU affairs, once again honored outstanding contributions to the European project.

This year, our Diplomatic World Institute partner , the Finnova Foundation, led by Juan Manuel Revuelta, received the award for the organization that has contributed the most to European construction, recognizing its exceptional work in fostering EU integration and collaboration with Latin American countries.

The ceremony brought together awardees, jury members, and representatives from political, institutional, and civil society spheres, celebrating activities that reflect the ideals and spirit of the European Union.

Congratulations to everyone who are working towards a stronger and more united Europe!

Dear Excellencies, Dear partners, Dear readers,

What a busy first semester it has been! We were proud to witness first-hand some important milestones, most notably the first EU-Central Asia Summit, where both sides elevated their cooperation to the level of a strategic partnership. After a brief hiatus last year, the Astana International Forum returned as an important space of reflection and resolve, seeking dialogue and direction in a turbulent world. And we also put the spotlight on two recent high-level conferences – the International Conference on Glaciers' Preservation and the Samarkand Climate Forum – whose message was crystal clear: urgent climate action is needed ahead of and at COP30.

This is also a special year for the African Union-European Union partnership, celebrating its 25th anniversary and characterised by a growing momentum. To understand the present and future of this important partnership, we bring you perspectives from South Africa, Lesotho and Ethiopia, among others, in addition to two special features devoted to Cameroon and Zambia, two fast-growing, emerging African countries with plenty of untapped potential and opportunity.

At Diplomatic World, we pride ourselves in giving all nations a voice, because what matters is not the size of the country but the quality and the value of the ideas which it brings to the table. You will read high-level contributions from Barbados and St Lucia, countries at the forefront of the climate crisis and whose voices need to be heard, and those, like Cuba, advocating for a more just and equitable international order.

A growing strand of work for Diplomatic World is focused on nation branding, a vital element of long-term strategy for countries seeking to shape their place in an increasingly interconnected world. As global narratives evolve and competition for attention, trust, and investment grows, countries that define and communicate their values with clarity and purpose are better positioned to thrive across all sectors. Effective nation branding therefore holds the potential to offer countries a distinct competitive edge. I wish you an enlightened reading,

Barbara Dietrich - CEO - Diplomatic World
