From solar efficiency to floating data centres, REVOLVE’s Summer Magazine is OUT NOW 🎉

Solar energy output in Europe is surging, yet plants underperform due to ignored operational data. Issues like misaligned trackers and faulty connections cause significant energy and financial losses. Ahmetcan Uzlaşık explores how the EU-funded PVOP project overcomes this issue by developing technical solutions to ensure data is acted upon and solar energy keeps on rising.

In a more urban setting, the VIEWS section curated by Charis Brice highlights the experts, technicians, and on-the-ground workers installing solar panels and retrofitting buildings for sustainability across Europe and beyond.

Asya Al Marhubi explores how cities are keeping their collective cool as heatwaves become more commonplace.

And as AI booms, Nazih Toubal and Nicolás Marín Navas ask: where will all that data be stored? The answer could soon be floating in our harbours and along our coastlines. We explore the rise of floating data centres.

Europe has the potential to become a global renewable superpower, yet permitting delays and systemic barriers are stalling the transition. How do we break the bottleneck?

According to Luke Haywood of the , the answer lies in local empowerment. He argues that “local communities should see tangible benefits from hosting renewable projects: local investment, ownership opportunities, and profits that stay in the region.”

💡 Do you agree that local ownership is the missing key to Europe’s energy transition?

In Longyearbyen, Svalbard, climate change did not arrive as a forecast. It arrived through the pipes.

Elevated manganese levels in the town's drinking water, a direct result of rapid Arctic warming, turned a trace metal into a public health concern almost nobody saw coming. The Arctic has warmed roughly four times faster than the rest of the planet since the late 1970s, with winter temperatures in parts of Svalbard rising by as much as 10°C. The bigger the disruption, the harder it is to predict what comes next.

A new opinion piece on REVOLVE makes the case that prudence is not about slowing progress. It is practical risk management, and perhaps the most realistic form of optimism we have. 🌱

The nappy your baby wears today could still be sitting in landfill in 500 years. Most of us never think about it, but used nappies are one of Europe's most overlooked waste streams.

Italian clean-tech company i-Foria has changed that. Their process sterilises used nappies and separates them into plastics, cellulose, and superabsorbent polymers ready to be used in construction, packaging, and agriculture. One tonne recovered means less virgin pulp, less plastic, less carbon.

We already recycle bottles. The technology to recycle nappies exists too. Now it needs policy and markets to catch up.

What happens when a landscape’s most precious resource is pushed to its limits?

In the Mediterranean, the journey of water is a complex narrative of survival, engineering, and environmental stewardship. From ancient irrigation systems to modern climate pressures, the way we manage water today will determine the resilience of our ecosystems tomorrow. 🌊

Our latest feature explores the intricate relationship between water cycles and the Mediterranean terrain, highlighting:
- The impact of increasing droughts on local biodiversity.
- How traditional water management practices offer lessons for modern sustainability.
- The urgent need for integrated policies to protect water security across the region.

💧 Understanding these dynamics is essential for building a water-wise future.
