⭐Time to celebrate ⭐

We gathered for the last time this year with the Right to Energy coalition to celebrate our campaign successes in 2023 💡

✨After tireless strong advocacy from many NGOs and unions, a Ban on Disconnections was included in the Electricity Market Redesign 👏

But the fight for a right to energy won’t end with the year. We looked forward, and shared our biggest wishes for the year to come in a very festive manner.

🌳 While the world's attention gravitates towards the Amazon, an environmental disaster unfolds in overlooked territories like the Cerrado, home to 5% of the world’s biodiversity, the Pantanal, the world’s largest tropical wetland, and the Argentinian Chaco.

🔎 Our new factsheet sheds light on the alarming deforestation rates and rural conflicts that endanger those invaluable ecosystems and threaten traditional and rural communities. And it highlights the destructive role played by big agribusiness.

🤑 The , the and are not submitted to the same level of protection or attention that is currently granted to the Amazon. They are the ‘last agricultural frontier’ for big agri corporations seeking to shift their predatory activities away from the .

🔥 The Cerrado has recorded its higher deforestation rate for the month of September ever. The Pantanal is facing the imminent risk of collapse as deforestation increased by more than half in the first 7 months of this year. And the Gran Chaco in Argentina lost more than 50,000 hectares of forest in the first half of 2023.

⛽ The EU-Mercosur trade deal will only add fuel to the fire by facilitating even greater pressure for beef, soy, and other products that impact the region’s environment and people. We need to now.

⚠At least 107 out of 425 world's biggest fossil fuel extraction projects worldwide are operated or financed by EU companies.
