Ex Oriente Lux, the event that took place in Iași, Romania this past weekend, reminded us of the strength of our shared roots in the Christian tradition and how this has laid the basis for making the Western identity stronger.

At New Direction, we believe that understanding our roots is not just an intellectual exercise, but instead it is the foundation from which we can shape the future. Political and social questions of our time cannot be answered without first knowing where we come from.

22 years ago today, Ronald Reagan passed away.

He left behind eight years that changed the shape of the West, through a series of choices that, one by one, redrew the map and opened the way to a new way of thinking.

A presidency built on the belief that governments that govern least, govern best and on the conviction that the Cold War could be won, not just managed.

His legacy is debated, as every forceful leadership should be, but his life left a mark in the West that we want to celebrate and remember today.

Il futuro digitale non ci attende domani, è già qui.

Digital Renaissance, organizzato da New Direction in collaborazione con l’eurodeputato Francesco Torselli, è stato uno spazio di riflessione autentica sulle sfide dell’intelligenza artificiale e dell’innovazione.

I temi affrontati nei diversi panel da giovedì ad oggi, anche grazie al contributo di diversi ospiti di livello internazionale, hanno spaziato dall’economia alla cultura, l’innovazione tecnologica fino a un confronto sul ruolo delle istituzioni in questo campo.

Abbiamo quindi smesso di chiederci se l’IA cambierà il nostro mondo, la vera domanda ora è se saremo pronti ad accompagnare il cambiamento.

The digital future isn’t waiting for us, it’s already here.

Digital Renaissance, organized by New Direction in collaboration with MEP Francesco Torselli, was a space for genuine reflection on the challenges of AI and innovation.

The topics explored across the various panels from Thursday through today, thanks also to the contribution of several international guests, ranged from economics to culture, technological innovation, through to a broader debate on the role of institutions in this field.

We have stopped asking ourselves whether AI will change our world. The real question now is whether we will be ready to shape that change.
