We are deeply moved to present Triste, Piotr Lachert’s 14th Piano Sonata, as the first of his works we publish since his passing. This emotionally charged and structurally refined sonata unfolds in three movements—each deepening the expression of sorrow with poignant clarity. Lachert’s unique idiom, blending modal austerity and lyrical polyphony, achieves here a rare intensity. Premiered by Alessandro Bistarelli in 2006, Triste is more than a significant contribution to the Polish piano repertoire: for us, it is also a moment of remembrance and renewal, and a way of honouring the composer’s voice through print.
