Natasha Pirard - Fernande, Cecile [DEEWEE087]
"To be honest, I’ve rewritten this text at least 50 times and each word, each sentence, doesn’t seem to cover how grateful, but also slightly terrified I am to share this new album with you. It is more than an album. It is a full chapter of a part of my life, of me growing up with two of the most warm, resilient and loving women by side; my mother and my late grandmother. Every track, every piece that I share with you is part of a whole, just as the three of us were, and my mother and I still are.
Fernande, Cecile is an ode to who my grandmother was: a safe haven who gave the best butterfly kisses and had the softest touch. I was 7 years old when I lost her due to Alzheimer’s disease and it broke my heart that we never got the chance to say goodbye. To thank her after all, for her guidance, to believe in my intuition and to never settle for less than being me. This album is also an ode to my mother: for the extraordinary 29 years she gave and continues to give me. For showing me how to care for and love someone abundantly and for being my absolute unwavering support. For talking about our past and memories for the last year and a half. Being able to share this album with her is my way of showing how much I care for her.
Thank you to everyone who listened carefully over the past few months; my stories, ideas, insecurities and absurdities. Thank you to Stephen and David for your trust, patience and care and to the whole DEEWEE family for bringing this record to life. To all of you for your support, who came to see me perform and came to say hi afterwards"
The first single “Buisson de mûres” is out from today and you can pre-order the vinyl album as well.
