So....40m is overcrowded like hell this afternoon. Managed some 20m QSO's with the Diamond HF DX Pro2 mobile setup, but I shifted the antenna for an evening session to the rooftop of the caravan.
SWR turns out fine with 1 wire radial attached to the base, even on different bands.
It's a good telescopic antenna. The adjustable coil performs in a consistant way, every time.
On the metal rooftop you can it run it without a radial, the counterpoise is delivered by the car.
On the caravan, it's a different story. A radial is needed.

Mobile QRP in the afternoon, next to the Ourthe river in La Roche (B) !
Mainly on 40m and 20m with the Diamond HF DX Pro2 antenna, I even made the trip to Georgia !

The mobile antenna performs well for it's size. The lenght and smaller diameter of the adjustable coil results in less induction , leaving a rather exellent gain and angle over the car's rooftop groundplane. This correlation sure holds up for the QRP power I use.

Good propagation this morning on that band, nice QRP on 7w ;-)

Getting out there.
That's ham radio.

This evening, running the X6200 from my bike with the copper wire magnetic loop, about 7W output, mainly on 40m.

Again. Poor bussiness. Poor propagation.
But I managed one QSO, into the Paris region F8CHM, just getting over the bandnoise over there, but hey....
Went over to FT8 now !!

Last weekend, ON6OBR fielday !
Getting the last cluster of QSO'S on 40m with ON3MAA logging ! ;-)

40m was overcrowded as hell - being the only band giving some propagation on the continent....

ON6OBR Fieldday today !!
Started a challenging QRP activation in the field at 14.30H local time ( 12.30H UTC ) !

Running my G90 with my homebrew magnetic loop on 5W PEP for 2 hours !
Now - propagation on the 20m band was hell with uge fluctuations, 40m was in use by our portable ON6OBR/P station in the contest.

I moved to 15m with low expections, until I heared A44A calling, a station from Oman !! It seemed unrealistic to even believe to make the trip on 5 or 10W, on a small coax based loop antenna I made years ago ! After a pile up of 40 minutes, I made a series of calls and suddenly I heared : " ON3B... again !" Repeating my callsign for nothing less then 10 times, he got it right ! All credit to the operator persisting to get this QSO validated !
It became the best of my day ;-) , 12 contacts on these minimalistic setup. I LOVE IT !

See you guys next weekend, when we represent our OBR hamradio association in the park of Hoegaarden ( B) !

Getting closer !!
September 5th, 2026 - I will attend to the ON6OBR fieldday, a portable fieldstation from the village of Hoegaarden ( B ) !
We'll be operation different bands and modes !!

Splendid evening with the lads from the Oost-Brabantse Radioamateurs !!
ON4CHJ tried his portable rig working the QO100 satellite with several nice QSO's .

The QTH of the Marollenkapel in Hoegaarden is just over a 100m above sealevel and a wide open 360° vieuw is often the scene for our hamradio events ;-)

Also teaming up with ON3VB and ON3SOW, to assist and do some testing. I even bridged a 60km contact on the Montignies repeater with my R6 handheld on 5W UHF from this site.

That's the spirit. Keep it alive !

Interesse in de wereld van de radiocommunicatie ?
