🇫🇷 Il y a quelques temps je vous avais fait part d'une commande sur laquelle je travaillais, qui n'avait rien à voir avec les dinos et qui me prenait pas mal de temps.
J'arrive enfin à la fin.
Ce projet, c'est la Fédérations des Anciens Prisonniers de Guerre qui m'a demandé si c'était possible de le faire: réaliser la réplique d'une statue en bronze de 2 mètres, qui sera placée dans un cimetière, totalement exposée aux aléas de la météo, grâce à l'impression 3D.
J'ai dit: "Oui." 🙃
A partir de ce "oui", j'ai fait face à un projet totalement horrible.
Non pas à cause du sujet en lui-même, mais parce que j'ai dit oui sans savoir dans quoi je me lançais.
J'ai du apprendre du début à la fin, avec les erreurs, le stress et la perte de temps incroyable qui va avec.
Le tout dans des conditions de travail pas du tout adaptées:
-Travailler un matériau qui a besoin d'une cloison fermée et chauffée, dans un entrepôt pas chauffé, en hiver.
-Devoir se séparer et démanteler cet entrepôt et continuer à travailler dedans jusqu'à ce que ça ne devienne plus possible.
-Se retrouver à faire de la peinture bien odorante au pistolet dans des espaces "bureaux".
Maintenant, il reste ce doux moment délicat de sortir ce bonhomme de 130kg par des portes trop petites et de le transporter jusqu'à sa place.😅
🇬🇧 Some time ago, I mentioned a commission I was working on—something that had absolutely nothing to do with dinosaurs and that was taking up a huge amount of my time.
I'm finally reaching the finish line.
This project came from the Fédération des Anciens Prisonniers de Guerre, who asked me whether it would be possible to recreate a 2-meter-tall bronze statue using 3D printing. The replica will be installed in a cemetery, fully exposed to the elements.
I said, "Yes." 🙃
From that single "yes," I found myself facing a dreadful project.
Not because of the subject itself, but because I agreed without really knowing what I was getting into.
I had to learn everything from start to finish, dealing with mistakes, stress, and an incredible amount of wasted time along the way.
All of this happened under working conditions that were far from ideal:
-Working with a material that requires a fully enclosed, heated printer, in an unheated warehouse, in the middle of winter.
-Having to dismantle and empty that warehouse while continuing to work in it until it simply wasn't possible anymore.
-Ending up spray-painting strong-smelling coatings in office spaces.
Now all that's left is the delicate little task of getting this 130 kg giant through doors that are far too small and transporting him to his final resting place. 😅
