Voor alle beginnende schakers en hun trainers hebben wij deze aanrader van IM Tom Piceu en Annelies Daniels in huis:

Mijn vele jaren ervaring als trainer en als docent om andere trainers in Vlaanderen op te leren, heb ik gebundeld in dit eerste boek: Slimmer schaken - Opening, strategie en eindspel voor beginners
Ik schreef dit samen met mijn vriendin Annelies Daniels, die het schaken via mij leerde kennen en zelf die eerste stappen nog niet zolang geleden zette.

De vele beschikbare lesmethodes voor beginners - de stappenmethode, lichess.org, chess.com, Duoling, Chessity, Chesskid, ... - focussen allemaal op tactiek. Trucjes en mat zetten.

Wanneer je dan als beginner schaakpartijen begint te spelen, dan merk je dat je kennis tekortkomt. Hoe moet ik reageren als mijn tegenstander agressief speelt in de opening, wat moet ik doen wanneer ik klaar ben met het ontwikkelen van mijn stukken, hoe maak ik een goed plan? Hoe leer ik zelf een opening? Waar moet ik op letten wanneer ik aan het winnen ben zodat ik het niet weggeef? Hoe houd ik overzicht in al die mogelijkheden die ik heb?
Al die vragen worden beantwoord in dit boek.

Daarnaast is er ook aandacht voor de schaakwereld zelf: hoe vind je een geschikte club, welke reglementen moet je kennen, hoe werkt het rankingsysteem en hoe gaat het er aan toe op een toernooi.
