So project #5 is a jazz bass ! I went crazy with the finish this time going for a black over gold. This is a nod to the instruments that were refinished at the fender factory in the 60s when a special order came in for a less common color. The likehood of an aztec gold finish overpainted in black is a bit slim though. paint by pickup from will be added this week

New trick as part of my guitar building adventures: for my Jazz bass, I am going for black over gold. You may say “what is the point ?” Well, when relicing the aztec gold finish will appear in some of the damaged areas!

When you realise you are a NERD… I for example spent severals hours this week removing all panels in the control room of my studio, preparing and painting wooden brackets to then reinstall everything 6 cm further from the wall. this is totally normal to me as it will save me a tiny bit of better control of low mid frequencies… thanks Niels Neven from for the tip

Starting with guitar build #4: this time I’m going for a Jazz bass. Based on body and neck, which I must say come with a level of finishing that is top notch… Now again the fun start with the paintwork and finding all the nice parts.

Build #3 ready leaning against a dual 50 amp. Pretty happy with the vintage vibe on this one. 65 set and fixed bridge (no trem) makes this quite special

Finished polishing the strat body of build #3. Tomorrow will be the fun part of beating this thing up so it looks like it has been played 24/7 for the past 60 years.
