After releasing on Kai Alcé's NDATL label with FCL and a Red D track on Reggie Dokes's Psychostasia Recordings I'm happy to find myself on another imprint from my beloved Detroit with the track 'Take It Back', featuring the vocals of my dearest Lady Linn.

The track is part of a double 12" release on 7 Days Entertainment, run by Big Strick and his son Generation Next and sees the teaming up of Detroit's finest with some very cool European friends who are also inspired by the 313 vibes.

The vinyl is available on Juno, Hardwax, Decks, etc and your support is very much appreciated!

For the past 8 years I have spent a part of my week teaching DJ culture and techniques to students in part-time art school in Belgium. During the course of those years I collaborated with VI.BE to convince the Belgian arts commission that DJ's can really be artists (not all of them of course, but that's another discussion :-)).

This is essential so starting DJ's can apply for an artist status and make official documents for their early fees without losing it all to taxes.

The road wasn't easy and there was/is still a penchant among 'real' artists that DJ's are not worthy of being called artists. In my courses I prove the opposite by taking students into the world of DJ culture and dance music history. From David Mancuso to Laurent Garnier, from early disco to drum'n'bass.

As current world politics demonstrate on a daily basis humanity has a hard time learning from history. Many DJ's prove exactly that if I hear them play, but all we can do is try and share knowledge so culture gets preserved and propelled into the future.

I'll be enjoying my first weekend off of the year in a couple of days - and making the most of it in my studio and record collection - so here's a dose of my favourite sounds for your ears and souls. This was my last set after a crazy period and as always when pretty tired in the Kiosk Radio shack mixing went super smoothly. That's what happens when you have the perfect technical set-up.

What does a DJ do during a rare quiet weekend? He makes a mix of course!

In my DJ classes I always ask my experienced students to make an X-Mix at the end of the year. For those who don't know: the X-Mix series by Berlin label K7 was one of the very first official DJ mix series in the world and a true badge of honour for some of the most legendary techno & more DJ's in the 90's. From Laurent Garnier to DJ Hell, from Richie Hawtin to Dave Clarke, it was a calling card of where techno and themselves were at at the time. The series was hugely influential for thousands of aspiring DJ's like myself and continues to resonate today.

So I decided to make one myself and here it is. This is where I'm at at the moment when it comes to house, techno & progressive.

My advanced DJ class students are always asked to provide me with an X-Mix by the end of the school year.
