Today will probably be the last Around the World show.
The goal of my 'Around the World Show' was never to become the most popular radio show on internet... it was intended to showcase the wide variety of music styles from all around the world...
And of course nobody was expected to like all the styles of music I've played since the start... but if you discovered one or two style (or even songs) that you like my mission is accomplished.
Last week's show (Flamenco & Greek music)... didn't go down well.
Someone said that the music is boring, uninteresting and that my style of presenting is "sleepy".
Well I don't want to be that testosteron fueled DJ constantly talking, playing sirens and where it feels like it is more about himself than about the music. Yes, I do talk during the shows but to give some context about the style, the artist or song... i don't speak Spanish or Greek but I did look up some thing to understand better what the artist is expressing in his/her music.
I was told my music should be targeted to UK audiences and 'easy on the ears'... but that ignores the large multicultural communities all over the UK and whose members might be happy to hear a song in their native language on the radio...
Mind you, this was not an anonymous internet troll (those are to be expected) but a respected radio DJ. So that hit hard!
So today on the ATW show we're going to visit a country with a sometimes very special taste in music... we're talking about the UK!
Tune in today Thursday 3-5PM (CET)
