His Last Winter is a new endeavor by Asen Santev, the guitar mastermind behind Bulgarian doom and post-metal powerhouses Trysth, UPYR, and Brodnik. The album is out today on cassette and digital. Dissolution documents Asen Santev's first recorded solo explorations of intense guitar-centered drone soundscapes and noise. The full-length is a slowly unfolding cathartic journey into the realms of heavily amplified guitar sound. Recorded at Wind City Studio by Mihail Slavov in one session and spanning five compact pieces, the record morphs from sustained metallic tones to meditative yet anxiety-drenched loops, through ritualistic amp-worshipping riffage, before it all disintegrates into walls of crushing feedback and chaotic guitar noise.
