Event Recap: IFSC World Cup Madrid 2025

We’ve officially built our first climbing wall in one of the most remote places on the planet — the Falkland Islands!

The new wall at the Falkland Islands National Sports Council in Stanley features:
🧗‍♂️ 211 sqm of rope climbing surface
🔗 Lead, top rope & auto belay setups
🎨 Natural wood + off-white color combo
🛠 Equipped with Walltopia’s signature hardware: rope protection strips, U-bolts, T-nuts & top anchors
☁️ Protected with Climbmat RM60 modular flooring

Fun fact: There are more penguins than people on these islands...but we think they're better in swimming than climbing so we'll leave climbing to the human population 🐧🧗‍♀️

🧗‍♀️ High Point Climbing And Fitness is opening a new full-service gym in Orlando!

Climbing Business Journal just announced the project, sharing exciting details and perspective from High Point's team as they expand into Florida’s Packing District.

As co-owner Johnny O’Brien puts it:

“We’re excited to bring our unique climbing gym model to Orlando. Our goal is to create a facility that welcomes everyone—from first-timers to experienced climbers—and becomes a hub for the local outdoor and fitness community.”

We’re proud to say this will be the 7th project we’ve worked on with High Point Climbing—including six full facilities and one vibrant kids’ climbing zone added to an existing gym.

Over the years, High Point has placed their trust in Walltopia again and again—and that means a lot to us.
We’ve built more than climbing walls together—we’ve built a partnership. And we’re happy to say, a friendship too.

👏 Congratulations to the whole High Point team—we can’t wait to see this one come to life!

Auto-belay accidents do happen, often because of small oversights with big consequences. The Climbing Wall Association's latest article sheds light on the human psychology behind it.

At Walltopia, we’ve developed two key solutions to help mitigate the risks:

🟠 One More Life Mat – like the airbag in cars but for climbing gyms—a backup that’s there when everything else fails. Designed to significantly reduce the risk of serious injury in the event of a fall.

🔵 Smart Gate – an autobelay monitoring system that detects when a climber isn’t clipped in and sounds an alarm to prevent the climb.

🚀 New Project Spotlight: Boulders Valnøse, Denmark 🇩🇰

This brand-new gym combines natural bamboo climbing panels with bold purple accents for a clean, modern vibe. At its core is an impressive hanging boulder — the architectural centerpiece that invites visitors to challenge their core strength and climbing skills.

We outfitted the gym with our Climbmat BM 400 safety mats, featuring a carpet top and hard-edge finish for seamless protection. Plus, a dedicated kids’ bouldering zone (yes, with a slide!) ensures fun for all ages.

We believe this facility will inspire the local community to celebrate movement, flow, and will foster even more passion for climbing.

Our local rep for the UK - Sandra Adler, , just came back after a visit to the largest climbing gym in the UK — and one we’re proud to have built —.manchester

It’s incredibly rewarding to experience the result of our work there firsthand. After spending so much time behind the scenes, it's a real pleasure to simply be on location and enjoy climbing in that world-class facility.

We’re honored and grateful to once again be the chosen wall supplier for Depot Climbing. Our collaboration over the years has brought to life some of the UK’s most iconic indoor climbing gyms — and Big Depot Manchester is a new high point in that shared journey. 🙏

A huge shout-out to the Depot Climbing team — the route setting was absolutely outstanding, making full use of the gym’s volume, variety, and creative potential. The energy in the space was electric, and it’s clear this is more than just a gym — it’s a hub for the UK climbing community.
