See the Wild Side of Balkans With our Nature and Wildlife Tours
Self-employed birding, wildlife tours, and nature photography guide working both independently and with reputable nature holiday companies: Naturetrek, Limosa, BalkanTracks, etc. from the UK; Stichting Vogelreizen from The Netherlands; Birding Ecotours from South Africa; Pandion and Wild Echo from Bulgaria. Last few years I’m the local guide on 4 of 5 Bulgarian nature tours of Naturetrek (birds, dragonflies, and butterflies, without botanical tour only).
I have been guiding, designing and organising birding and nature tours around Balkans since 2009 for individuals, couples, families, and groups from many countries: UK, Ireland, France, Belgian, Netherlands, Germany, Australia, USA, Canada, etc. To organise large groups, I work with the best wildlife tourist agency in Bulgaria – Pandion Wild Tours. My main destinations are the Danube Delta where we do a regular summer tour with Vogelreizen, the marshes around the Danube in Bulgaria and Romania, the Black Sea coast, the mountains in Romania, Bulgaria and Greece, the Aegean coast of Greece and many of the Greek Mediterranean islands.
Thanks to my participation in many nature conservation projects and monitoring of biodiversity in Bulgaria, SE Romania and Northern Greece last 30 years, I have many back-up options for finding the key species that tourists want to see, away from popular tourist sites where they are still undisturbed! Proof of my experience is my involvement as one of the authors of the Atlas of the Breeding Birds in Bulgaria, Atlas of the European Dragonflies and Damselflies, as well as other scientific publications.
My experience as a tour guide is mainly with birds, dragonflies, and butterflies, but with me, you can learn a lot about the history and culture of SE Europe (similar combined tours, birds and history, I lead with BalkanTracks). Other combined tours I lead are birding & Kayaking and Birding & wine tasting.
