MY RESPONSE TO UCHE ROCHAS:
Dear Uche Rochas,
Your statement that “a thousand Peter Obi combined can't challenge BAT (Bola Ahmed Tinubu) in any contest, free and fair or not,” is not only exaggerated but dismissive of the democratic spirit and the intelligence of millions of Nigerians who voted for Peter Obi in the last election.
Here are clear reasons in my own opinion and observation why Peter Obi can and has already challenged Tinubu — and why he can win in any truly free and fair contest:
1. Electoral Record & Performance:
In the 2023 elections, despite limited political structure and massive voter suppression, Peter Obi won 11 states including major battlegrounds like Lagos, Abuja (FCT), Plateau, and Nasarawa — all without vote buying or political thuggery. This shows the people’s genuine love for him.
2. Credibility & Character:
Unlike Tinubu, who still has unanswered questions surrounding his source of wealth, identity, and drug-linked forfeitures, Peter Obi has maintained a clean public record, never been indicted in any corruption scandal, and is widely respected internationally. Nigerians are increasingly drawn to leaders with integrity.
3. Youth & Middle Class Support:
The Obidient movement is not a fan club — it's a civic revolution. The Nigerian youth, tech community, students, and professionals at home and abroad rallied around Peter Obi not because of money, but because of hope and vision. This demographic makes up over 60% of Nigeria’s population.
4. Policy Depth and Clarity:
Peter Obi speaks facts and data. His campaign was issue-based, focused on economic revival, cutting government waste, and creating jobs. Tinubu, on the other hand, ran a campaign of entitlement and political muscle — not policy vision.
5. Popularity Without Compulsion:
Peter Obi never had to bribe, bully, or force endorsements. His acceptance came organically, without coercion. This is a sign of a leader that can truly win any free and fair contest based on merit.
6. International Image:
While Tinubu’s presidency has struggled with international credibility, Peter Obi commands respect globally. This matters in a globalized economy where leadership is tied to investment confidence.
So to say “a thousand Peter Obi cannot challenge Tinubu” is not only laughable but shows a lack of touch with the political realities of modern Nigeria. Leadership is not about noise, money, or muscle — it’s about capacity, character, and connection with the people.
Peter Obi has all three. And he has already proven that Tinubu can be defeated, even by just one Peter Obi.
