Happy Easter weekend Bermuda! Junior writer Jared Rego here with an update on our Bermudian competitors at the Carifta Athletics Championships in St George's, Grenada. The event officially opened this morning at Kirani James Olympic Stadium, and here is the latest:

The Bermy athletes have enjoyed mixed fortunes in the opening session, which concluded around noon Bermuda time. The first afternoon/evening session resumes at 4 pm our time, and you can watch it live on the World Athletics YouTube channel.

Kelise Wade struggled mightily in the Under-17 girls 400 metres, ending 6th in her heat and 16th overall from 18 total entries, clocking a time of 59.08 seconds.

Livewire athlete and Somerset Trojans footballer Zydon Lightbourne-Furbert squeezed into the Final of the boys 400 in the same age group, finishing third in Heat 1 and 5th overall of 13 runners, touching the tape in 49.32 seconds. His final comes up at 5:20 pm Bermuda time.

Amara Samuels had a steady showing in the Girls Under-17 100 metre sprint, finishing fourth in Heat 2 and 11th overall from 27 starters, crossing the line in 11.97 seconds.

Our first Bermudian thrower in Grenada, Tatiana Sousa, finished sixth in the Girls Under 20 Javelin, with her best toss measuring 39.46 metres on her third of six tries; Sousa was the youngest thrower of the eight in the field. Bahamian Taysha Stubbs claimed gold in that event with a toss of 48.84 metres on her fourth attempt.

Arima Turner endured the most challenging effort for Bermy today thus far, clocking 12.73 to finish last in her heat and 17th of 18 competitors in the Girls Under 20 100 metres.

Last, but not least, a moment of history was witnessed when Miles Outerbridge broke the Bermudian junior record in the Boys 100 at thr Under-20 age group, speeding to a time of 10.29 seconds. This shatters the previous record of 10.54 seconds set by Kyle Webb twelve years ago. Tune im this evening at 7 pm to see if Miles can perhaps better his own record and win gold.

Hello Bermuda! After a difficult World Cup Qualifying campaign for the Bermuda men's national team, the Lady Gombey Warriors (our Senior women's football team) got their Concacaf W Championship Qualifiers off to the perfect start with a dominant 4-0 shutout win over Cayman Islands last night at Truman Bodden Sports Complex in Georgetown, Grand Cayman.

🇨🇰 Cayman Islands 0-4 Bermuda 🇧🇲 (Frazzoni 2'; Thompson 12'; Masters 40'; Christopher 68') - SBM performance grade: 8/10

Skipper Eva Frazzoni gave our "girls in blue" a fabulous start inside two minutes, pouncing on a loose ball in the six-yard box from a cross delivered by Kenni Thompson.

Thompson then found the net herself, tapping home the rebound from close range after Christopher had a long-distance strike parried back into danger by Cayman keeper Ericia Burke; Bermy double their lead after 12 minutes.

The best goal of the night came five minutes before the break, when Danni Watson played Thompson into space on the left after a flowing move, and the Bournemouth star squared for Jaiden Masters to stride in from the opposite wing to side-foot in from eight yards.

Bermuda got slightly complacent early in the second half, which was bound to happen given their impressive first half attacking display.

Christopher got the goal her tireless work rate desired midway through the second half to complete the shutout, and get Bermy's Group C schedule off to a serene start. Goalkeeper Taya Rodrigues made two significant saves to keep a clean sheet on her Lady Gombey Warriors senior debut.

Junior writer Jared Rego here, with about four separate posts coming throughout the evening either side of the opening PL game of the season at 4 pm Bermuda time between champions Liverpool and Bournemouth, live from Anfield. Hello Bermudian sports fans:

Just an urgent reminder to come out and support the Bermuda Senior Men's National Football team as they face Central American powerhouse Honduras on Friday night 8 pm at Flora Duffy National Sports Centre, for the Concacaf Gold Cup Preliminary First Leg.

Tickets are only available online via www.gpass.bm, and gates open at 6 pm. If you cannot afford tickets, the match will be streamed on Disney+.

Look forward to seeing you at National Stadium on Friday night! I will be providing live updates via the Instagram across the night, and interviewing coach Michael Findlay after the match.
