Brunei takes a step forward in building an AI-ready nation 🖥

The AI Ready ASEAN Programme was officially launched at DFCE 2025, an initiative designed to equip Bruneians with essential AI skills to thrive in a technology-driven future.

Why this initiative matters 🎯
• A regional effort to upskill 5.5 million ASEAN citizens
• Focused on empowering youth, educators, and parents
• Practical learning through: Hour of Code workshops, ethical AI awareness, and digital literacy building

The launching ceremony also featured the exchange of funding grant agreements between the ASEAN Foundation and local implementing partners, including UTB and Big BWN Project, supporting the delivery of impactful AI education and skills-building initiatives in Brunei.

This programme empowers Bruneians with essential AI skills and supports Brunei’s journey toward becoming a confident and responsible digital leader in ASEAN.

A joint effort by AITI, the Ministry of Transport & Infocommunications, and the Information Department, this initiative keeps our digital space safe and trustworthy.

That’s a wrap for the Digital Future Conference Event 2025 🎊

Over two impactful days, local and international thought leaders came together to explore what it takes to build a trusted, innovative, and sustainable digital future for Brunei Darussalam.

💡 Day 1 spotlighted the importance of online safety, AI governance, and data protection, with engaging discussions on Brunei’s Personal Data Protection Order (PDPO) and the ethical deployment of emerging technologies.

⚡ Day 2 dived into transformative technologies like Cloud Computing, AI, and IoT, showcasing real-world applications, challenges, and strategies to drive digital progress across industries. Participants also gained practical skills through hands-on workshops on AI tools, design thinking, and data breach management.

🔍 A key highlight from Day 1 was the launch of Waspada.bn, Brunei’s official fact-checking platform designed to combat misinformation and online scams. Currently active via Instagram (), the platform empowers the public to verify information, stay alert to scams, and contribute to building a more informed and vigilant digital community.

Meet TrashMove! A student-led initiative born out of passion, purpose, and a vision for a cleaner Brunei.

Built by four Year 11 students from Chung Hwa Middle School, this project recently earned 2nd runner-up at the APICTA Awards 2024 under the Student category. 👏🏽

From schoolbooks to source code, these young changemakers are showing us that tech isn’t just about innovation, it’s about impact.
