The rumours are true. Oasis were the support act. Now here comes the big reunion. The real prodigal son of Manchester isn't some maraca-weilding bloke in a bucket hat, it's Altrincham town t***k Henry "Pooch" Weekes - and after literal years of the people clamouring for it, he's back reunited with his mardy brother. The first Brazilian Wax Arena Tour warmup show is going to be a low-key love-in at TRC, supporting extended family member . madferit

TL;DR Please pleadge, donate, pre-order and support!

Oi, tudo bem? Just appealling to all of you lovely, generous people who have supported us over the years to shamelessly ask for your help! Russ at and I have spent a year poring over every minute detail of our compilation of contemporary Brazilian music. We’ve put in so much love, time, and (as is the case with vinyl records) dollah into this project. The result has been met with so much incredible enthusiasm. But, as a crowdfunded and indie project, everything from curating and producing to accounting and promoting is down to the two of us. And we need all the support we can get to push this album to be made.

We are both aware that this isn’t the cheapest record in the world. But, what it is, is a meticulously detailed and gorgeously put-together statement showcasing the most exciting scene of musicians. And, believe me, the quality of the music is insane. We’ve been so lucky to have had the album embraced by all the artists and, amazingly, all our favourite musicians from Rio wanted to be a part of this. So, I can truly say this record pools together the best and most creative musicians around. It’s been treated with so much love - both from ourselves and the incredible artists, musicians, writers and designers that have been involved in the project. The essays, photos, liner notes, posters… Everything looks and sounds incredible and we’re sure you’ll all love it so much.

If you’d love to get your hands on the record but it’s too pricey, we’re going to be offering special vinyl rates to all those who grabbed the digital pre-order during the campaign if/once the campaign succeeds. So, grab the digital pre-order now, and grab the record later! Whether it’s supporting via pre-ordering the $40 double album, the £12 digital pre-order, copping a more exclusive perk or even donating via linktr.ee/hiddenwaters , any and all help is hugely appreciated!

Plus + any coverage on radio/print/online etc. would be hugely appreciated!

Sending love,

Obrigado

Joe x

*ANNOUNCEMENT TIME*

So gang, it's been a while. Minus brief dances at Manchester's and the odd private do, it's been a quiet one over the corona period; it’s seen Brazilian Wax swap the parties for the pen and, through various radio and print platforms, seen Joe swap spinning wax for waxing lyrical. Our last proper party was on the day that the government gave the death knell to the music industry: 16th March 2020. And it was a classically chaotic sold-out affair in one of our favourite cities, at our favourite little venue alongside a hero of ours, . Typical of every Edinburgh shubs, this party was a sweaty one - dancers clambering up speaker rigs, limbs in the air, packed-out singalongs far past curfew…

It was a swansong that saw our evolution from Leeds basements to UK-wide dancefloors reach a heady climax. For a minute, with corona sweeping the world, it seemed like that’d be it. But Brazilian Wax is back - and where better to kick-off our post-pandemic partying than in the city where it all ended back then!?

Big ups to for bringing Brazilian Wax up north of the border for our biggest headline party yet in Edinburgh - at the 600 capacity

It’s going to be a huge. Get down at the end of November to witness the rebirth

Latest roundup for magazine. Been a mad month for musical movements from 🇧🇷 check it via el bio

"This month’s collection of fifteen contemporary Brazilian releases has been compiled from an almighty pool of potential albums; March and early April has proved phenomenally fertile soil. From pioneering dub to uproarious rock, angular funk and Eastern electronics, this Brazilian Wax round-up is one of the most far-reaching yet, full of corners of vivid colour to get lost in."

📣 TODAY - 7PM UK / 4PM BR📣

Black women in Brazil and UK occupying political spaces.

This month marked the three-year anniversary of the assassination of Marielle Franco and Anderson Gomes.

Marielle became an international symbol in the fight for human rights, for a new and diverse political culture and has inspired an uprising of black women not only in Brazil.

JOIN US TODAY to hear from three incredible women who're in the frontline of state politics fighting for justice and equality and representing black women's resistance.

We’ll be joined by:

- feminist, human rights advocate, and State Deputy in Rio de Janeiro. Renata was Marielle's chief of Staff before her murder, and she also serves as the President of Rio's Legislative Assembly’s Human Rights Commission. 🔥

- The first black woman to be elected as a state deputy for Minas Gerais. Andrea currently serves as president of the Permanent Commission on Human Rights and Vice President of the Permanent Commission on Women's Rights of the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais.🔥

- UK parliamentarian serving as Labour MP for Leicester East. Claudia is also a life-long black rights activist and is the Vice-Chair of the Brazil Solidarity Initiative.🔥

is back on on Saturday from 3pm GMT, inviting .rec producer and founder of the Porto Alegre parties and , sit in for a huge guest mix in hour two. Plus, in hour one, the best new music from Brazil, including a première by young Bahian sensation . Lock in via the bio!

Amerindian Colombian-Brazilian Paula Posada is a musician and a Popular Music graduate from UFRGS. She’s a DJ, violinist and composer, and her electronic productions explore musical deconstruction through the cutting of melodies and rhythms. She’s a really exciting producer who first really caught Joe's eye with her composition “Instigada” from Goma Records’ compilation Vol B. She has also been putting out some wicked things via collectives such as Goma Records, Pornograffiti and most recently Porto Alegre label T REC.
