Happy birthday, Chi.

Today, time would have marked your 60th birthday. Six decades of life. A lifetime devoted to seeing the world through a lens and turning fleeting moments into eternity.
For more than 30 years, you wrote one of the most important chapters in the history of global Hip-Hop without needing to say a single word. Every photograph carried truth, resistance, identity, and memory.
Who could have imagined that such a giant in photography would cross oceans, set foot in Brazil, and choose Heliópolis—the largest favela in São Paulo—to share his art? More than an exhibition, you gave us an encounter. More than images, you built bridges. And from those bridges, a friendship was born—one that neither time, distance, nor absence will ever erase.
You brought us closer to some of our greatest rap idols, but without even realizing it, you became one of them too. Your camera never captured faces alone; it immortalized a culture, preserved a generation, and gave Hip-Hop a legacy that will continue to inspire many more.
Today, we celebrate your life, your work, and everything you planted wherever you went. We will continue honoring your story, keeping your memory alive, and making sure that every photograph continues to tell what the world must never forget.
Thank you for believing in our work. Thank you for your trust, your kindness, and the journey we shared.
