Marcelo Giordano Mendes takes down the Ambassadors Cup.

In an 81-player freezeout where there were no second chances, Marcelo combined experience, composure, and relentless pressure to come out on top. Known on the Latin American circuit for his aggressive yet controlled style, he once again showed why he’s such a dangerous player deep in the field.

With more than $500,000 in live tournament cashes, Marcelo adds another standout result to his résumé, claiming the trophy, BRL 11,500, and a package to SPT Manila 2026.

A champion’s run from start to finish. 🏆♠️

⬇️5 rules for playing out of position ⬇️
Playing out of position means making decisions with less information. That is why mistakes become expensive very quickly.

1. Checking does not mean weakness:
It keeps your range wider and forces opponents to act first.

2. You do not need to define your hand:
Betting just to see where you stand usually gives your opponent cheap information.

3. Pot control matters more than thin value:
Medium strength hands perform better in smaller pots when you are out of position.

4. Connected boards favor the in-position player:
They can apply pressure more effectively when they act last.

5. Sometimes the goal is to lose less:
Not every hand needs to be won. Some hands just need to stay small.

A♣K♣ looks premium… until the flop says otherwise. 🃏

Board comes 5-4-2 — and suddenly, it’s not your board anymore.

This smashes the caller’s range:
small pairs, two pairs, even straights.

You? Just two overcards and hope.

Great poker players don’t force it.
They recognize range disadvantage… and step back.

Not every pot is yours to win.
And knowing when to give up is where money is saved. 💰

⬇️ Most players do not want to hear this! ⬇️

If poker feels frustrating or unfair, these truths may explain why.

1. You bluff more often than you should:
Especially against players who hate folding.

2. Checking is often the strongest option:
It allows you to control the pot and gather information.

3. Winning players fold big hands:
They understand that strong does not mean unbeatable.

4. Not every session is meant to be won:
Long term decisions matter more than short term results.

5. Small mistakes cost more than bad beats:
Variance hurts, but repeated leaks are far more damaging.

♠️Which one do you disagree with most?♠️

You’ve got A♠10♠ on K♠ Q♠ 6♦ 2♣ J♥.

River checks to you…
So what now?

Do you go for thin value — targeting worse hands that might call?
Or do you check back and avoid getting trapped?

This is where poker gets tricky:
Value vs risk.
Aggression vs discipline.

⬇️5 poker rules most players ignore ⬇️
These are not tricks. They are fundamentals that most players know but do not apply consistently.

1. Position is more important than hand strength:
Acting last lets you see your opponent’s decision before making your own. That information is often more valuable than slightly better cards.

2. Strong hands do not always want big pots:
On dynamic boards, betting large forces worse hands to fold and better hands to continue. This reduces your value and increases your risk.

3. Protecting your hand is not always necessary:
If worse hands cannot realistically outdraw you, protection bets only inflate the pot.

4. Most bluffs fail because of earlier streets:
If your line does not show strength on the flop and turn, the river bluff rarely works.

5. Folding is a winning decision:
Every chip you save is a chip you can use in a better spot later.

♠️Which rule do you forget during a session?♠️

This is where understanding ranges prints money. 🧠♠️

You raise pre-flop — they just call.
Flop and turn? Check-call, then check again.

That’s a capped range.
They rarely have the strongest hands like A-K here.

But you? You still can.

That’s the difference.
When your range is stronger and theirs is capped… you apply pressure. 💥

Stop playing your cards.
Start playing ranges.
