Transparency Post (I’m getting wayyy too open in my older age 😂)
One of the things I’m growing to understand with this Podcast is that this isn’t just a hobby, or something I’m trying to build for me, this is legit ministry. I’m literally watching God stretch me and mold me into someone who He can use, in ways that I’m soooo uncomfortable.
Communication for me has always been easy. In my profession, I’ve been privileged to sit with millionaires, senior government officials and lead policy conversations or expound on legal advice, but this!? Sharing my faith, and teaching scripture!? Whew. Honestly haven’t been a fan. And if I’m honest it’s not because I don’t enjoy studying, teaching and talking about God and all things, because the gift of YAPPP!? I g*t that on lock 😂 but I’ve caught myself measuring ministry with the same metrics I’ve measured success everywhere else. Numbers. Growth. Visibility. Achievement. There’s an overachiever in me that has always existed, never okay with not being number one, sending an exam paper back for review during a 4.0 semester, mind you, because the A was a 90 and not a 100 (sickkkk, I know 😂).
There has been a part of me evaluating my ministry the same way I’ve always evaluated my career, by results I can see. Likes. Shares. Followers. Growth. But while preparing this Bible study, God reminded me that Kingdom work isn’t measured by popularity; it’s measured by faithfulness. The question isn’t whether people applaud the work, it’s whether the work advances His Kingdom. That realization has been incredibly freeing. I’m growing in my understanding of what it means to be rooted in the One who has called me and committed to doing the work that He has entrusted to me, whether five people see it or five thousand.
This Bible Study episode is one that I’ll remember and be guided by forever because it changed the way I think about the Christian life. It reminded me that salvation isn’t the finish line—it’s where the work begins. It gave me a greater appreciation for the weight of the call, the urgency of the Great Commission, and the privilege of being a laborer in God’s Kingdom.
We spend so much of our lives asking God to bless what we’re building. But this study challenged me to ask a different question: Am I building what God asked me to build?
I hope you’re as challenged and blessed by this as I was.
