Episode 35: Work, Weekends & Worn-Out Race Families š
Welllll⦠itās been a minute.
I think the last time we checked in was after Boothill (Episode 34), and honestly? Life has been doing what life does best⦠moving fast and keeping us BUSY.
After Boothill, the boys didnāt make the feature, but they came home with their heads held highā¦and if you ask me, that says a whole lot more than a trophy ever could. š Hard work, dedication, long nights, busted knuckles, showing up anyway⦠none of that goes unnoticed. I have to remind them every now and then that Iām proud of them no matter what. Wins are great, but character matters more.
Since then, weāve been busy with this little thing called work š (which really gets in the way of the fun stuff š)⦠but also makes the fun stuff possible. Between traveling back and forth to Tennessee, late nights, work projects, yard cleanup, and squeezing in some much-needed lake time, weāve definitely stayed moving.
Memorial Day weekend at Almost Home was exactly what we needed - pause - and by āproductive,ā I mean we did absolutely nothing šš A few card games, some needlepointing, snacks (obviously), and watching the races on TV that didnāt get rained out. Honestly? Zero complaints.
Dakota has apparently entered his golf era ā³ and is out here trying to level up his Tiger Woods game.
Meanwhile, Zac has been battling the FAA phone system trying to get his test scores. After HOURS on hold⦠still nothing. And this momma heart? Whew. Itās happy and sad all at once. Happy because it means a little more time with him before life takes off, but sad because I know how badly he wants this ⦠and goodness knows I want it for him too. We are proud of him already, no matter what those scores say. ā¤ļø
Speaking of Zac⦠heās been over there 3D-printing goodies for Trav and the race trailer like some kind of engineering wizard š Spring holders for the new cabinets? Yep. Fancy.
And speaking of race trailers⦠Trav did a full-on turn-and-burn to Waco one early morning to go pick ours up, then made a pit stop in Texarkana for graphics⦠and yāall⦠it actually looks like a race trailer now. Like a real race trailer.
And tonight? Itās officially time to put this newly outfitted race trailer to good use šš
Honestly, it kinda makes me wanna race against themā¦
You know⦠just a thought. š They probably couldnāt handle me kicking their tails anyway. I better stick to snacks, drinks, and moral support.
BUTTTTT⦠itās Friday, and that means itās race day at 67 Speedway of Texarkana š Which also means⦠somebody better save the chicken š Because between me and you, we do NOT eat chicken on race day. Yep, call it superstition if you want, but around here we just donāt do it š
Wish the guys good luck⦠and maybe say a little prayer that we make it home before 4 a.m. šµāš«š
