Episode 35: Work, Weekends & Worn-Out Race Families šŸ

Welllll… it’s been a minute.

I think the last time we checked in was after Boothill (Episode 34), and honestly? Life has been doing what life does best… moving fast and keeping us BUSY.

After Boothill, the boys didn’t make the feature, but they came home with their heads held high…and if you ask me, that says a whole lot more than a trophy ever could. šŸ’™ Hard work, dedication, long nights, busted knuckles, showing up anyway… none of that goes unnoticed. I have to remind them every now and then that I’m proud of them no matter what. Wins are great, but character matters more.

Since then, we’ve been busy with this little thing called work šŸ™ƒ (which really gets in the way of the fun stuff šŸ˜‚)… but also makes the fun stuff possible. Between traveling back and forth to Tennessee, late nights, work projects, yard cleanup, and squeezing in some much-needed lake time, we’ve definitely stayed moving.

Memorial Day weekend at Almost Home was exactly what we needed - pause - and by ā€œproductive,ā€ I mean we did absolutely nothing šŸ˜ŒšŸ˜‚ A few card games, some needlepointing, snacks (obviously), and watching the races on TV that didn’t get rained out. Honestly? Zero complaints.

Dakota has apparently entered his golf era ⛳ and is out here trying to level up his Tiger Woods game.

Meanwhile, Zac has been battling the FAA phone system trying to get his test scores. After HOURS on hold… still nothing. And this momma heart? Whew. It’s happy and sad all at once. Happy because it means a little more time with him before life takes off, but sad because I know how badly he wants this … and goodness knows I want it for him too. We are proud of him already, no matter what those scores say. ā¤ļø

Speaking of Zac… he’s been over there 3D-printing goodies for Trav and the race trailer like some kind of engineering wizard šŸ˜‚ Spring holders for the new cabinets? Yep. Fancy.

And speaking of race trailers… Trav did a full-on turn-and-burn to Waco one early morning to go pick ours up, then made a pit stop in Texarkana for graphics… and y’all… it actually looks like a race trailer now. Like a real race trailer.

And tonight? It’s officially time to put this newly outfitted race trailer to good use šŸ˜ŽšŸ

Honestly, it kinda makes me wanna race against them…

You know… just a thought. šŸ˜‚ They probably couldn’t handle me kicking their tails anyway. I better stick to snacks, drinks, and moral support.

BUTTTTT… it’s Friday, and that means it’s race day at 67 Speedway of Texarkana šŸ Which also means… somebody better save the chicken šŸ˜‚ Because between me and you, we do NOT eat chicken on race day. Yep, call it superstition if you want, but around here we just don’t do it šŸ˜…

Wish the guys good luck… and maybe say a little prayer that we make it home before 4 a.m. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ˜‚

EPISODE 34: Mud, Motors & Waiting on Wings šŸšŸŒ§ļøāœˆļø

Life lately has looked a little less like fireworks and a little more like real life… and honestly? Sometimes those are the episodes worth telling too.

The boys loaded up and headed to Boot Hill Speedway chasing a $30,000 payday and all the hopes that come with a big race weekend. But racing has a funny way of humbling you real quick.

Thursday, Travis fought rear-end issues during practice. Friday? Heat races had both him and Dakota battling problems that definitely weren't in the game plan. Then, just for dramatic effect, the sky decided to fully commit to the storyline and absolutely opened up. Rain everywhere. The track, the pits, the parking field… all of it. Mud. Lots and lots of mud.

By Saturday, Travis had his car back together and both he and Dakota lined up in the F Main with one mission: work their way toward the A. Twenty-four cars. Starting in the back. Long odds.

And while they didn't bring home the $30,000, they did what Broaches do... they dug.

At one point they had worked themselves up into transfer positions running 9th and 10th. They fought hard and crossed 11th and 12th in what sounded like one heck of a race. Later I saw a video of them charging side by side down the straightaway together and y'all... those moments get me every time. ā¤ļø

Then after he got home, Travis casually mentions, ā€œOh by the way... I had no brakes.ā€

EXCUSE ME SIR. NO BRAKES?! šŸ˜³šŸ˜‚ Apparently he just decided to send it and let Jesus take the wheel.

Meanwhile back home, Zac and I had ourselves a little adventure weekend. We made a trip to Gracefully Stitched where I found new needlepoint canvases and fibers (because obviously I needed another project šŸ˜‚), grabbed dinner, and saw The Devil Wears Prada 2 — which by the way was AMAZING. For approximately two hours I was mentally transported back to New York and Milan living the glamorous life I’m fairly certain I was meant for.

And if I’m being honest, I think part of me needed that time with Zac more than I realized.

We’re still sitting over here on pins and needles waiting on his FAA assessment scores to come back. It’s been two weeks and we still haven’t heard anything, and I’m pretty sure I’m way more anxious than he is at this point. šŸ˜‚

Because somewhere in the back of my mind, I know what those test scores represent. I know they’re another step toward Oklahoma, FAA school, and him spreading his wings.

And while I’m beyond proud and excited for him, there’s also this little mama heart over here realizing these days at home are becoming fewer and fewer.

So maybe dinner, needlepoint shopping, and a movie night weren't really little things after all.

Maybe they were exactly where I needed to be. ā¤ļø

This past week Dakota has been absolutely determined to make that #40 faster. Every spare minute outside of work has been spent in the shop with sheet metal, tools, notes, adjustments, and all the race science the boys swear makes sense. Watching him pour himself into it has been pretty cool.

Travis did a turn-and-burn run to Waco to drop off the trailer, then came home and we escaped to the houseboat for the weekend. We dropped the Supra in the water, ran the bass boat, filled the ballast, made sure the waves were waving 🌊 and spent the weekend doing what we love: slowing down.

And because apparently our life likes plot twists, I was supposed to pick up the Silent Assassin from her spa day today... except an unexpected window mishap had other plans. Life happens. Stuff happens. But I’m thankful good people still exist and for folks who take care of their customers the right way.

So here we are.

No trophies. No giant checks. No huge life updates.

Just racing, family, lake weekends, needlepoint, movie nights, shop lights on late, and making memories in the middle of ordinary days.

And truthfully? Those ordinary days usually end up becoming our favorite stories.

Memorial Day is coming... and if you know us, we're probably already cooking up something. Because we're the Broaches... and sitting still has never really been our thing. šŸ˜‰

Until next episode...

Episode: ā€œNo Chicken & Big Dreamsā€

This weekend looks a little different for us. ā¤ļø

For the first time in a while, I didn’t load up and head to the racetrack with the boys as they rolled into Boothill Speedway for the $30,000-to-win show. Instead, I stayed home with Zac.

And honestly? I needed it.

We’ve spent most of 2026 running wide open … airports, race tracks, cruise ships, race cars, highways, hotel rooms, and enough laundry to qualify as a full-time occupation. šŸ˜‚ So this weekend felt like the right time to slow down for just a second and spend a little extra time with my baby boy… who suddenly isn’t much of a baby anymore.

Part of me wants to be there beside Travis and Dakota, supporting them and cheering them on every single lap like always. But another part of me knew I needed to be home with Zac too. Life is changing so fast right now, and these moments with him feel extra important while he stands on the edge of starting his own future.

Quite honestly, I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve missed something for either one of my boys. Whether it was racing, school, life, celebrations, or just showing up when they needed me! I’ve always tried to be there. So staying behind this weekend definitely tugged at my mama heart a little harder than expected.

Zac recently took his FAA assessment test and is waiting on his scores now. Fingers crossed for good news because the next chapter of his life may be starting sooner than this mama is emotionally prepared for. 🄹 Soon he’ll hopefully be headed off to school for FAA, and after that, they’ll send him wherever he’s needed most.

It’s exciting. It’s terrifying. It’s life.

Meanwhile, back at home, the grass refuses to stop growing, the office work keeps piling up, and my house has looked like a small tornado sponsored by Amazon boxes and laundry baskets. BUT… after months of chaos, I finally found a housekeeper, and he starts Tuesday, so praise be. šŸ˜‚šŸ‘

As for the guys… Travis and Dakota are locked in and ready for battle this weekend. I’ll be following every lap on RaceON, yelling at my TV from home like a professional crew chief who contributes absolutely nothing useful. šŸ¤

Dakota will probably keep everyone updated over on the Broach Racing page too.

Now everybody say it with me: šŸš«šŸ” NO CHICKEN TODAY OR TOMORROW.

Let’s hope the boys are fast, smooth, lucky, and bring both cars home in one piece. šŸ

Episode:
From Coastal Highways to Cruise Days & Tesla Nights

Last we left you… we had hopped, skipped, and flown our way to California āœˆļøšŸŒ“

We landed in San Francisco, made our way down Highway 1 (because obviously we don’t do boring routes 😌), soaked in the magic of Big Sur, and lived our best lives in Carmel-by-the-Sea and Santa Barbara.

And then… it was time for the next chapter.

🚢 Cue: boarding day.

We stepped onto the Brilliant Lady on Sunday, ready for whatever she had in store (fun fact…she’ll be Alaska-bound in just a few weeks… jealous already šŸ„¶āž”ļøā„ļø).

From that moment on, it was full send:

* šŸø Endless cocktails at Richard’s Rooftop
* 🌮 Flavor-packed nights at Pink Agave
* šŸ³ Brunches and bites from Razzle Dazzle
* šŸ½ļø Classic indulgence at The Wake
* šŸ¦ And let’s not forget… entirely too much ice cream from Lick Me Till I Scream (zero regrets)

The shows? Incredible.
The people? Even better.
The laughs? Non-stop.

We even slowed down long enough to sneak in a few hot tub moments… because balance šŸ˜‚

Now… let’s talk weather.
Yes, the sun showed up ā˜€ļø but the West Coast said ā€œdon’t get too comfortableā€ because it was a little on the chilly side. Not quite the ā€œbake me like a rotisserie chickenā€ warmth I prefer šŸ˜…

But the ports? šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

* Cabo gave us the stunning Los Arches
* MazatlĆ”n had us hiking to the top of El Faro (hello, world’s tallest natural lighthouse šŸ’Ŗ)
* Puerto Vallarta delivered charm, color, and all the vibes

And then… my birthday šŸŽ‚ā¤ļø

Scarlet Night, all things red, and the kind of celebration that made me feel like a literal celebrity. Crew members were FINDING me just to say happy birthdayā€¦šŸ„³

And Travis… oh, he understood the assignment.

He surprised me with a 2004 vintage Louis Vuitton Viva Cite … Dakota’s birth year 🄹 (And yes… a 2006 version is already on the future wish list… Zac, you’re next šŸ˜)

Fast forward āœˆļø

We flew home late Sunday night…
Got up EARLY Monday morning…
And drove to Tennessee because apparently we don’t believe in rest šŸ˜…

Why?

⚔ To pick up the new Tesla.

And let me tell you… we are OBSESSED.
She’s smooth, she’s fast, she’s quiet… she’s giving ✨silent assassin✨ vibes.

Now don’t panic… my Yukon is still THAT girl and forever will be šŸ’… But the Tesla? She’s fun fun.

And just like that… we’re back in race mode šŸ

The guys are gearing up for $30,000 to win at Boot Hill this weekend…
Because slowing down is simply not part of the Broach family brand šŸ˜Ž

On to more adventures… because you already know we’re not done yet

26/04/2026

šŸŽ¬ Episode:
ā€œAlcatraz Said ā€˜Not Today’… So We Said ā€˜Fine, We’ll Take the Whole Coastā€™ā€

So last we left off…
Travis and I were ā€œheading out on another adventure.ā€

What we didn’t say was… we casually dipped out of Arkansas like we were in witness protection, hopped on a plane, and landed in San Francisco ready to ✨live our best lives✨

And then…
Plot twist. šŸ˜‘

Alcatraz Island was CLOSED.
Closed. Shut down. Not accepting visitors. Not even me… the person who literally flew there for it. 🫠

But did we cry?
No. (Okay maybe a little internally.)
Did we pivot like seasoned professionals?
ABSOLUTELY. šŸ’…

We took over the city instead
✨ Fisherman’s Wharf like tourists with a mission
✨ Pier 39 where the sea lions had more personality than half the people we know 🦭
✨ Ate crab like we had something to prove šŸ¦€
✨ Survived driving down Lombard Street without taking out a mailbox šŸš—
✨ Found the Painted Ladies and yes… mentally queued the Full House theme song šŸŽ¶

And of course…
We crossed the Golden Gate Bridge like the main characters we are šŸ“ø

Then we said…
ā€œYou know what would be a good idea?ā€
Let’s just drive the entire California coast.
Because clearly we don’t believe in relaxing. 😌

Enter: Highway 1 🌊

šŸ“ Carmel-by-the-Sea
Checked into the cutest little spot…Cypress Inn…like we were in a Nancy Meyers movie
Watched a sunset that looked fake
AND caught 410 sprints with Landon doing his thing… because apparently we bring race season with us šŸ

Back in the car… because we’re a little sporadic. šŸ˜…

Big Sur showed OFF
✨ McWay Falls (unreal)
✨ Bixby Bridge (yes, THAT bridge)

šŸ“ Santa Barbara
Pulled up to Harbor View Inn like we deserved a trophy šŸ†
Ocean breeze, good vibes, zero regrets

And now… here we are…

šŸ“ Los Angeles

About to hop on yet another boat…
Because apparently land is just a layover for us at this point. šŸš¢šŸ’ā€ā™€ļø

Stay tuned…
Because if this was just the warm-up…

The next chapter?
It’s about to be unhinged (in the best way). šŸ˜ŽšŸŒŠ

šŸ Episode: Smack Talk, Hurt Feelings & a Chance at Redemption

The last two weeks?
Yeah… they haven’t been quiet in this house.

Between late nights in the shop and even later nights running mouths, it’s been full-on race mode.

Tires grooved.
Sheet metal bent back where it mostly belongs.
Springs changed.
And a whole lot of ā€œthat oughta do itā€ energy thrown in for good measure.

Because tonight… it’s go time.

It’s a perfect, sunny, warm kind of day ā˜€ļø which can only mean one thing…
Someone’s feelings are about to get hurt under those lights at 67 Speedway in Texarkana šŸ

It’s Broach Refrigeration Night, and we’re proud to sponsor both the night and the USRA Factory Stock class.

And in true Travis fashion…
He’s making sure every first responder that walks through the gate with their ID gets in on him.

Because that’s just who he is … show up, give back, and take care of people first.

But let’s not pretend that’s the only reason he’s showing up tonight…

Because for the last two weeks, Dakota has been riding real high after making the feature.

And Travis?
Well… he’s heard about it.
Repeatedly.
Daily.
Probably hourly, if we’re being honest šŸ˜¬šŸ˜‚

So now we’ve got one trying to prove it wasn’t luck…
And the other one coming in with something to prove and just a little bit of revenge on his mind.

The house has been loud.
The shop has been louder.
And tonight… the track gets to hear it all play out.

So we’ll see…

Does Dakota back it up?
Or does Travis remind everybody exactly who he is?

Either way… we’re loaded up, stocked with water and Gatorade, and ready to watch it all unfold.

Let’s go chase that checkered šŸšŸ”„

As always, a special thank you to our sponsors who make this all possible:

Episode: It Started With Bread… Now We’re in Trouble šŸžšŸŖ

My best friend Amber (yes… Amber from Arkansas herself šŸ˜‚) has been baking sourdough at home… and what started as a simple idea has turned into THIS.

And let me just say…this is not your average homemade bread.

This is:
šŸ„– JalapeƱo cheddar with a kick
šŸ§„ Garlic & herb that smells like heaven
šŸ§€ Cheddar + garlic that should be illegal
šŸŖ BIG, soft, gooey browned butter cookies
✨ Snickerdoodles that don’t stand a chance
šŸ¤ And cinnamon swirl sourdough?! Come on now…

Oh…and don’t even get me started on the cinnamon rolls. We’re talking hide them from your family level good.

She’s doing limited batches, so when she sells out… she’s OUT. This menu is for NEXT WEEKEND!!

šŸ‘‰ Check out her menu below and message her to claim your order!

I’m so proud of her for stepping out and doing this … and if you know me, you know I’m only sharing this because it is 1000% worth it.

Let’s show her some love and blow Auntie Ber’s Bakery UP šŸ’› (She’s tagged in this post)

Episode: We Don’t Do ā€˜Slow Weeks’… Just Less Loud Ones

This week?
Not exactly lights, cameras, chaos… but don’t get it twisted…we stayed busy šŸ˜…

Cars have been cleaned up and Dakota’s been out there bending, beating, and sweet-talking sheet metal like it personally offended him last week. She’ll be race-ready again soon… one dent at a time.

We’ve also been on a full-blown manhunt for a tire machine-you know, one of those Coats tire changer deals that apparently cost more than my will to keep doing taxes 🫠

And let me tell you… they are PROUD of those things. Like sir… does it come with a free vacation too??
At this point I’m about to start asking if it comes with a payment plan AND emotional support.ā€

And because we clearly didn’t have enough going on…
we HAD (šŸ™„) to get a golf cart.

And not just any golf cart…
✨light strips
✨custom decals
✨401k & 40 logos

I’ll give you one guess whose idea that was…
(Travis and Dakota… obviously)

But I’ll admit… it is kinda nice scooting around at home like we run a small country club now šŸ˜‚

Custom fire suits have been measured and are in the works…just waiting to lock in the final design and let these boys feel even faster than they already think they are šŸ’šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

And Dakota?
He’s been over there making TikToks breaking down racing…the ins, the outs, the how-to’s…
and I’m not even gonna lie… he’s actually REALLY good at it šŸ‘€

Go follow him šŸ‘‰šŸ¼

Meanwhile…
the guys have been out there hustling at K-Roger getting refrigeration colder than a well digger’s backside in January šŸ„¶šŸ˜‚

And me?
Oh just living my best life buried under paperwork trying to get taxes together for the accountant…

You know… that ā€œpre-clean before the cleaner comesā€ energy?
Yeah… I do that for my accountant too. Because if I hand him a shoebox of receipts…I will personally lose sleep over it. Everything’s gotta be neat, labeled, highlighted… probably color-coded if I’m being honest 😌

BUT tomorrow? šŸ¤
I get to spend the day with my sweet daddy at CARTI for his treatment, and then finally meet with a landscaper because Lord knows… we don’t have a green thumb OR an imagination when it comes to plants šŸŒæšŸ˜‚

And just like that…
Easter weekend is here šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

ā€œHe is not here; He has risen, just as He said.ā€ – Matthew 28:6 āœļø

Grateful, busy, a little chaotic…
but still showing up.

Because around here…
we might have slow weeks…
but we don’t have idle ones šŸ’ŖšŸ¼
