Sikkim CM Meets Kidney Patient Prasan Chettri from Jaigaon, West Bengal – Appeals for Support Grow

Jaigaon/Sikkim, July 2025:
In a touching gesture of humanity beyond borders, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) met 24-year-old Prasan Chettri, a resident of Jaigaon, West Bengal, who is battling stage 4 chronic kidney disease. Prasan has been fighting this illness for over 12 years, and now urgently requires a kidney transplant to survive.

Despite not being a resident of Sikkim, Prasan's heart-wrenching story has deeply resonated with people across the region, particularly in the neighbouring state of Sikkim. His mother has courageously come forward to donate her kidney, but the family is struggling financially to cover the high cost of the life-saving transplant.

Popular Sikkimese social media influencer Rock Lama was among the first to raise Prasan’s story online, publicly appealing to CM Prem Singh Golay via his social media handle. The post gained significant attention and support, sparking a wave of compassion from Sikkim's citizens.

Moved by the plea, CM Golay met with Prasan and his family, assuring them of support and assistance. The Chief Minister's intervention has offered new hope to the young patient and has also highlighted the importance of regional unity and humanity, especially when it comes to critical health cases.

Speaking about the meeting, locals from Jaigaon expressed their gratitude, stating, “This act of kindness has brought light into a very dark situation for the family. It shows that love and help have no boundaries.”

Prasan Chettri’s case continues to inspire people across West Bengal and Sikkim to come forward and support him. Donations, awareness drives, and local appeals are now being organized, with the hope that this united effort will soon lead to a successful transplant and a second chance at life for the brave young man.

**Digital Literacy Boost: Education Ministry Launches Education Technology Framework 2025**

In a major step toward modernizing the education system, the Ministry of Education and Skills Development has officially launched the **Education Technology Framework 2025** in the capital today. The framework aims to **enhance digital literacy and competency** among teachers, Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) facilitators, and students across the country.

The initiative is designed to integrate digital tools and innovative teaching strategies into classrooms, bridging the digital divide and preparing educators and learners for a tech-driven future. With this new framework, the Ministry plans to conduct structured training programs, provide digital infrastructure support, and encourage the use of e-learning platforms at all levels of education.

Officials said this move will not only empower teachers with digital skills but also equip students with essential 21st-century capabilities needed to thrive in a fast-evolving global environment.

The Sacred Month of Shravan Begins: A Time for Devotion to Lord Shiva

The month of Shravan (also called Sawan) has begun, marking one of the holiest periods in Hinduism, especially for devotees of Lord Shiva. As the fifth month of the Hindu lunar calendar, Shravan holds deep spiritual significance and is dedicated entirely to the worship of Lord Shiva, the destroyer and transformer in the Hindu trinity.

According to Hindu belief, this is the time when the cosmos aligns favorably, and divine blessings are more easily accessible. Devotees observe fasts, perform Rudra Abhishekam, chant mantras like the Maha Mrityunjaya, and undertake Kanwar Yatras, offering water from holy rivers to Shiva temples.

Mondays in this month, known as Shravan Somvars, are especially important. On these days, countless devotees flock to Shiva temples, seeking divine grace, inner peace, and spiritual upliftment.

Many also abstain from non-vegetarian food, alcohol, and other indulgences, focusing instead on prayer, charity, and spiritual reflection. In temples across India and in regions like Jaigaon, special pujas, bhajans, and gatherings are being held.

As the rains cleanse the Earth during this monsoon month, Shravan is seen as a time for renewal, purification, and devotion — both of body and spirit.

Tragedy in Gujarat: Bridge Collapse in Vadodara District Kills 10, Vehicles Plunge into Mahi River

In a heartbreaking incident, at least 10 people have died after the Gambhira-Mujpur bridge in Gujarat's Vadodara district suddenly collapsed during rush hour. Four vehicles plunged into the Mahi River, triggering panic and chaos.

The incident occurred when the bridge, a key link between Gambhira and Mujpur villages, gave way without warning. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud cracking sound, followed by screams as vehicles disappeared into the waters below.

Rescue teams, including NDRF personnel, fire services, and local police, were immediately dispatched. So far, 10 bodies have been recovered, and divers continue searching for possible survivors or more victims trapped in submerged vehicles.

Preliminary investigations suggest structural weakness as a potential cause, though officials have not ruled out other possibilities. Locals allege that multiple complaints were made earlier about the bridge’s deteriorating condition, but no action was taken.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and has assured compensation and a full investigation into the collapse.

This tragic event raises serious questions about infrastructure safety and government accountability in the state.
