The stadium erupted as the final whistle blew! MHSS, almost with winning force, didn’t give up till the end. Their defence, wings, scorer, and mid- field played brilliantly. However, the luck was in favour of Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School emerging victorious in an absolutely nail-biting showdown that had everyone on the edge of their seats. The score swung back and forth like a pendulum, with neither team giving an inch. Heart-stopping saves, lightning-fast counterattacks, and incredible teamwork kept the tension unbearable. With minutes remaining and the match deadlocked, Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School‘s striker unleashed a thunderbolt that rippled the net. The crowd went wild! Pure determination and grit carried the crowd through this epic battle. What a match! What a team! Champions at last!​​​​​​​​​​​​

This morning marked a wonderful start of the week with numerous awards.The Science Department of YHSS proudly announced the winners of the much-anticipated Science Exhibition held on 1st October 2025. This achievement celebrated innovation, curiosity, and scientific spirit of students.

🎖️ Phuntsho Wangchuk and Kuenley Thujee Yangchen received a cash prize of Nu 5000 for taking the first position in debate competition organised by BMF among the four High Schools, Druk High School, Pelkhil High School, Motithang Higher Secondary School, and Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School.

💃🕺 YHSS enthusiastically participated in the Musical Fitness Dance Competition organized by Thimphu Thromde. They gave a tough fight taking the 6th position.

RUB bans mobile use in classrooms from October

After years of allowing students to carry and use mobile phones freely within campuses, the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) has now decided to impose a complete ban on their use during academic hours.

A new directive issued by the Office of the Vice Chancellor on 22nd September 2025 states that, starting 1st October, students across all RUB colleges will no longer be permitted to use their phones during lectures, tutorials, guest sessions or public talks.

Today, Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School conducted its annual Science Exhibition.The inauguration of the programme added a sense of achievement and excitement among students.

The exhibition was divided into two levels: Classes IX and X formed the Junior level with the theme’ Science is Fun’, while Classes XI and XII represented the Senior level who worked on the theme ‘Futuristic Bhutan'.
To ensure fairness, the school invited a panel of distinguished judges from different schools.

Students showcased a wide range of projects and models reflecting their creativity, scientific knowledge, and problem-solving approaches to real-life issues.

The exhibition concluded successfully where every class took turns to visit the show.
A heartfelt gratitudes to the science department and the participants for making this programme a big success.

The organizers and the participants extend their heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed judges from Babesa HSS, Loseling MSS, Changzamtog MSS, and Lungtenzampa MSS for your valuable time, fair judgment, and encouragement. Their presence added more value to the future prospects.

The science department sincerely thanks the Principals of these schools for their unwavering support and guidance, without which the program would not have been possible.

YHSS once again emerged victorious, securing the champion’s title in the debate competition on Media and Information Literacy (MIL), organized by the Bhutan Media Foundation. It was a proud and joyous moment for the school as heartfelt congratulations were extended to the representatives, Kuenley Thujee Yangchen and Phuntsho Wangchuk of XII Science B, whose dedication and hard work paved the way for this remarkable achievement under the able guidance of the English Department.

The debate formed an integral part of the ongoing project, “Development of the National MIL Strategy”, funded by UNESCO and supported by the Royal Thimphu College Professional Service. More than just a competition, the debate served as a vibrant platform for the youth to raise their voices, encouraging them to critically engage with the Draft National MIL Strategy.

Mothithang Higher Secondary School, Druk School , and Pelkhil were the competitors.

The debaters shared that despite their initial anxiety, their teachers’ guidance gave them confidence, and the experience taught them the value of preparation, teamwork, and mentorship. They remain deeply thankful to the school for this opportunity.

On 27th September, out of 623 Y-VIA members from Thimphu’s five schools, Yangchenphug HSS, Dr. Tobgyel, Motithang HSS, Lungtenzampa MSS, and Druk School with 50 passionate students have been chosen as Earth Ambassadors to lead environmental conservation efforts.

During the orientation, the students learned about the plantation site’s progress (including a survival rate of 70% for the trees planted in 2024) and their upcoming roles in tree planting, monitoring, and environmental education under the “Nurture a Tree” project.

Together, they will work towards YDF's ambitious goal of planting 1 million trees by 2033, ensuring a greener and healthier future for all.
