Recently, a suspected terrorist was detained in the nearby Indian town of Jaigaon. The individual actually made many attempts to enter Bhutan, according to BBS. Sources claim that if it weren't for the Border Management Systems put in place at the Pedestrian Terminal, he would have been successful.
Foreigners must present their passports when entering the country through the first-ever pedestrian terminal, which opened on September 23 of last year. Indians can enter the country using their voter cards. The same as at an airport, a person must pass through a body scanning machine while their luggage is checked by x-ray machines. All of this is thought to have prevented the suspect from entering the country. Officials haven't however confirmed it in any statements.

A suspected terrorist has been arrested in the neighbouring Indian town of Jaigaon recently. BBS has learnt that the man actually tried to enter Bhutan several times. According to sources, he would have been successful had it not been for the Border Management Systems installed at the Pedestrian Terminal.
The first-ever pedestrian terminal opened on 23rd September last year requires foreigners to produce their passports while Indians can use their voter cards to enter the country. An individual has to go through a body scanning machine while luggage is screened by x-ray machines just like at an airport. All this is believed to have foiled the suspectโs attempts to enter the country. However, officials have not made any statements to confirm it.
