As Bhutan celebrates the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, we bow in deepest reverence to a King who wore the crown not for glory, but as a sacred vow to serve all sentient beings.
At just sixteen, His Majesty ascended the Golden Throne and guided a small secluded Himalayan kingdom with the wisdom of many lifetimes. When the country was at crossroad of modernization, His Majesty led Bhutan to the global stage without ever compromising its values and identity.
From His enlightened heart gave birth to the timeless gift of Gross National Happiness. It was a reminder to the world that true progress is measured in peace and spiritual well-being. His Majesty protected Bhutan’s forests, culture, and values as sacred treasures, and ensured that material growth never overshadowed moral spiritual growth.
Like the Bodhisattva Kings praised in the Sutra of the Golden Light, His Majesty governed with principles of Buddha Dharma. His voluntary abdication in 2006 was an act of supreme selflessness — a teaching in impermanence and humility, showing that leadership is a sacred trust, not possession.
His Majesty’s reign is a living mandala of compassion — safeguarding sovereignty, empowering the people, and offering democracy as a gift of love.
Indeed, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo is a living embodiment of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, ruling Bhutan with compassion, wisdom, and selfless love.
On this sacred day, DHI BizAP, offer our heartfelt prayers and gratitude. We are forever blessed to live under the grace of a King who transformed power into Dharma.
With devotion, we pledge to serve our beloved Druk Yul in His Majesty’s spirit — with loyalty, integrity, and compassion — to strengthen the sovereignty and peace of our Kingdom.
Long live His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo — our Bodhisattva King, our eternal guiding light. 💫🇧🇹
