Family Doubts, Big Promises & No Banana Roofs – Dorji Wangdi’s Story.
This week on Tshangla shimin, we sit with former Opposition Leader / DPT President Dorji Wangdi.
From a humble childhood in Zhemgang to serving 13 years as a civil servant, and later stepping into politics at the request of late Lyonpo Yeshey Zimba, his story is full of passion, sacrifice, and determination.
He recalls how being teased about “banana-leaf roofs” in Zhemgang inspired him to bring real development and he kept his promise.
Dorji Wangdi also shares how his parents once worried about him resigning from a respected “Zhungyop”(Civil servant) , and even when he became a minister,in 2008 , family and parent was worried and asked if he could handle the responsibility!
With humor, honesty, and inspiration, he reflects on his journey of serving King, Country, and People and his commitment to continue in the next election.
