Township Rollers Fail to Honour Fixture Against Calendar Stars

Township Rollers FC failed to turn up for their Botswana Premier League fixture against Calendar Stars at Gaborone United (GU) Stadium on This evening.

The club later released an official statement confirming that players had refused to participate in the match, despite internal efforts to resolve the issue.

“Township Rollers FC was unfortunately unable to honour the scheduled fixture due to a decision by players not to participate,” the statement read. “We extend our sincerest apologies to the league authorities, the Botswana Football Association, our sponsors, supporters, our opponents, and the wider football fraternity for this regrettable and unprecedented occurrence.”

The Gaborone giants, one of Botswana’s most successful clubs, described the incident as “unprecedented” and assured stakeholders that steps would be taken to ensure such a situation does not happen again.

The Botswana Premier League and the Botswana Football Association are yet to comment on possible disciplinary action following the club’s failure to honour the fixture.

TAFIC FC midfielder Law Jakachira is preparing for life after football. The impressive central midfielder who is on loan at Calendar Stars graduated from Milands University with a Bachelor of Science in Networking and Computer Engineering in his homeland in Zimbabwe.
