At Patayamatebele Village
MATLALA - MADLALA
His name was Dili Mzimbile Mguni. My grandfather was born in 1896 in Jackalas No. 1, a direct descendant of MADLALA MGUNI, my great-great-great-grandfather. MATLALA, who had been taken in Tlokweng, Botswana, during the raids by Mzilikazi in the early 1800s. As it was the tradition of Mzilikazi to raid the local villages on his path and take their livestock, the women, and especially the young boys to join his army. MATLALA, during his stay with the Ndebeles, was renamed MADLALA.
The Ndebele route through Botswana is well established at Patayamatebele village, where they crossed the Tati River and settled there for a while. Mzilikazi ruins can still be seen, where there is a Pyramid.
