: Botswana Police warns against planned demonstrations by students

According to a press release released this evening, the Police Service has acknowledged the intention by students for a demonstration scheduled for tomorrow in Gaborone.

However police say there has been no planning and cordination with relevant authorities. The police say they are already engaged with another event and therefore it will not be ideal for the students to hold their demonstration tomorrow. Instead the police advise that the students set a different date where support will be available as required under the Public Order Act.

The student movement had planned a demonstration tomorrow following the failure by the UDC government to fulfill their P2,500 allowance election campaign promise
