Netflix to Acquire Warner Bros. in Landmark Entertainment Deal

Netflix has announced plans to acquire Warner Bros., including its renowned film and television studios, HBO and HBO Max, in a landmark move set to reshape the global entertainment landscape. The acquisition brings together some of the world’s most iconic franchises under one umbrella uniting beloved titles such as Harry Potter, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Casablanca, Game of Thrones and the DC Universe with Netflix originals like Stranger Things, Wednesday, Squid Game, Bridgerton and KPop Demon Hunters.
For now, viewers can rest assured that nothing is changing immediately. Netflix and Warner Bros.’ streaming platforms will continue to operate separately as usual. The transaction is still subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals before it can be finalized.
Subscribers are encouraged to continue enjoying their favorite content without disruption, with Netflix reaffirming that all viewing will remain on current membership plans until further notice. More updates will be shared as the process advances.

Questions Raised as Botswana Has No Officials at AFCON 2025

Botswana has missed out on representation at the upcoming AFCON 2025 after CAF announced the list of match officials selected from across the continent. While several African nations will be represented on the officiating panel, no Botswana referee or match official has been included for the prestigious continental tournament. The absence raises questions about whether the country’s local officiating system is producing referees at the level required for elite continental competitions.
One of the last Botswana officials to feature at such a high-level continental tournament was the now-retired Joshua Bondo, who was widely regarded as one of the most trusted referees on the African continent during his active years.

BK PROCTOR HOSTS BOTSWANA’S BIGGEST BLACK FRIDAY

Botswana’s fashion scene is gearing up for what is expected to be the largest Black Friday event the country has ever witnessed, as Collections by BK Proctor prepares to unleash its Black Friday Mega Sale this Friday 28 and Saturday 29 November.

Stretching across all stores nationwide and online via WhatsApp Business, the sale promises unmatched discounts, new collections, exclusive deals, and an electrifying shopping atmosphere.

Fashion lovers are set to enjoy up to 60% off on selected items, with the brand unveiling fresh new collections that will be available in-store for the first time during the sale.

Shoppers will also be treated to special highlights, including a free breakfast voucher for the first 50 customers and live appearances by Chef Gustos at the Fairgrounds Grand Store on the 28th and Diphalane Grand Store on the 29th.

Founding Director BK Proctor says this year’s sale represents a milestone moment for the brand and for the local retail industry.

“We are raising the bar this year. This is not just a sale; it is a national shopping moment, and we want every customer to feel the energy and excitement of what we have prepared,” he said.

Collections by BK Proctor has grown into one of the country’s most influential contemporary fashion houses, with a strong presence in major malls and urban centres. According to Proctor, the Black Friday Mega Sale is an opportunity to give back to loyal customers who have supported the brand’s rise.

“Our customers have carried this brand to where it is today. Offering up to 60% off across our stores is our way of saying thank you and making premium fashion accessible for everyone during this special weekend,” he added.

The introduction of new collections timed specifically for the event has also generated major anticipation. From signature streetwear pieces to premium accessories, shoppers will be the first to access items that typically sell out fast. Proctor believes this exclusivity is part of what makes this year’s edition historic.

“This is the biggest release of new merchandise we have ever done for Black Friday. We wanted to give people something fresh, something they’ve never seen before and the response so far has been overwhelming,” he said.

The two-day sale, running from 8AM to 8PM, is expected to draw massive foot traffic across all stores nationwide. With added entertainment by Chef Gustos, extended trading hours, and a nationwide rollout, the Collections by BK Proctor Black Friday Mega Sale is firmly positioning itself as the country’s standout retail event of the year.

Shoppers are encouraged to arrive early, take advantage of the new collections, and enjoy deals “while stocks last,” as the brand gears up to deliver a record-breaking shopping experience.
