Its 2016 and we are working on Moroka Moreri album with Nawej Baba Flo Florent, with other accomplished artists - Lister Boleseng, John Selolwane, Sua Pan and the incredible Mabiletsa sisters on vocals, and the big brother tells me, 'I will come back and record my next project here. I'd like you and Baba Flo to work on it.'
Before then, I had wished to work with him for quite sometime. So this was great news to me! 2021, he calls me and informs me to prepare for the project. 2022, we start working. As Phempheretlhe would explain, instead of laying down guide vocals as is the norm, we laid down guide keyboard parts and proceeded to record all his vocals! The unusual plan at that time was to follow up his vocal recording with the rest of the instrumentation and backing vocals. However issues of life interrupted the work, until his passing, earlier this year. After discussions on the way forward, we eventually managed to complete the project, with Baba Flo, as originally planned!
This will remain the only project so far that strongly captured me wholly. My heart and my mind went into this one. I only wished that during the completion of the works we had enough time to perfect it even more.
However, this is my tribute to my brother Mmereki Marakakgoro!

I have lost a brother, a friend. He graced our studio a few years back for Moroka Moreri album, now back here again and just as we started on his journey into His new album, he is blown out like candle light! Im deeply saddened and pray that his wife, his family will find comfort.
