New Look Studios in Collaboration with Morafe Pictures presents an opportunity for local talent to audition for their upcoming International Short Film. The following roles will be auditioned for;

1. NALEDI
Gender: Female
Age: 27
Profession: Unemployed
Ethnicity: Mokgatla
Naledi is strong-willed and emotionally resilient person. She has endured the abuse from her ex- and family alike. However, Naledi does not plan to be a victim for ever. She is a woman with a plan. An escape from her family.

2. PILATO
Gender: Male
Age: 62
Profession: VDC Chairman
Ethnicity: Mokgatla
While being the Patriarch of the family, Pilato only cares about Pilato. He compensates for that with a great sense of humour. He enjoys making people's lives difficult.

3. MMADINEO
Gender: Female
Age: 78
Profession: Street Vendor
Ethnicity: Mokgatla
She has an incredible sense of humour. She has a lot of energy for her age. She is the master schemer of family. A trait that has kept her surviving poverty since her husband past on. Mmadineo’s moral campus is debatable.

4. KUTLO
Gender: Female
Age: 27
Profession: Self Employed (Online Sales)
She is a bubbly and loving young lady. She likes obsessing over other people's problems and will go the distance to help those she cares about. She is a joy to be around her, good energy.

5. NTATE MODIEGI
Gender: Male
Age: 63
Profession: Retired Banker
He is a pillar of strength to many and a voice of reason. He is a true definition of selflessness. Humble man, but can stand his ground under fire and still come out with

6. MORAKE
Gender: Male
Age: 57
Profession: Chartered Accountant
He is a successful professional. He is a perfectionist, and becomes such a nervous wreck when things are not lined up properly and happening according to plan. He is as solid as they come.

7. MMABAAGI
Gender: Female
Age: 54
Profession: Cleaner
She is a very charismatic and friendly woman. Way too often the lines are blurred in her world between the truth and lies. She just enjoys gossiping.

8. YAYA
Gender: Female
Age: 4
She is a very happy child with great energy. She may sometimes possess the soul of a 50-year-old. She is also, rightfully naughty and adorable at the same time.

9. MMA-TSHEPO
Gender: Female
Age: 57
Profession: Self Employed (Retail)
She is loving and compassionate woman. She is aware of her privilege and it humbles her. She is a woman of prayer and unwavering faith. Her family is everything. She is the mother Naledi never had.

10. GIRL
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Profession: Student
Too advanced for her age. She likes partying and all about the ‘city’ lifestyle. Her parents are going to find out that she is not their innocent little girl anymore.

11. VICTIM 2
Gender: Male
Age: 52
Profession: Unemployed
He is a struggling man who has turned to alcoholic for solace.

12. RAMALEBOGO
Gender: Male
Age: 65
Profession: Retired Teacher
He can be impatient and easily swayed by mob psychology. He speaks with a rough and somewhat rowdy voice.

13. MMAMALEBOGO
Gender: Female
Age: 61
Profession: Retired Nurse
One of Tshepo’s delegate who will struggle with biting her tongue when faced with Pilato’s shenanigans.

14. MMABOINEELO
Gender: Female
Age: 58
Profession: Civil Engineer
She has too much pride. She is impatient and likes to win.

RULES:
1. IMPROV: All Participants to film a 30 seconds monologue that best interprets the character’s personality (Show us the internal thoughts of the character).
2. Send the monologue to [email protected] by Thursday 12 January 2023.
3. All Shortlisted Actors/Actresses will be invited for a Physical Audition on Saturday 14 January 2023 from 9am at New Look Studios (Unit F16, Fairgrounds Mall, Gaborone, Botswana - Dada's Mall)
4. Entrance is free, but strictly by invitation.

6. The Characters ethnicity reflect the accents they play, all actors/actresses are encouraged to apply provided they can do the relevant accent.

Good News!
A team of talented young Batswana from our last Auditions have been invited for the next stage of Screen Tests by the Executive Producers of Muvhango. They will Audition at the SABC this Monday for the Directors and Writers of Muvhango.. We wish them all the best. And encourage all hopeful Actors/Actresses to be on the lookout for our next Auditions (dates to be confirmed and subject to the needs of our Partners)

SEIPATI AND BOKANG

SEIPATI is on her desk at reception working when BOKANG comes in at the front door.

BOKANG: Dumela

SEIPATI is thrown off guard when she sees him.

SEIPATI: What are you doing here, BOKANG? I already told you that I don't want to see you. So just get out, okay?

BOKANG: I'm not here to see you, I'm here to see the manager. Where is he?

SEIPATI immediately looks nervous.

SEIPATI: Why do you want to see him? If you're trying to fill his head with lies about this baby, you can just forget it-

BOKANG cuts her off.

BOKANG: SEIPATI! I actually have important business I need to discuss with him. Business that doesn't concern you.

SEIPATI: BOKANG, please. That's what you say. But I know you. As soon as you see him, you're going to start filling his ears with your nonsense.

BOKANG: Not everything is about you, SEIPATI. At this point I actually don't care if the father of your baby is the boss’s driver.

SEIPATI looks shocked.

SEIPATI: What? That's disgusting. How can you even say something like that? ​​​​​​​

BOKANG: Are you going to let me in or should I just go in by myself?

​SEIPATI: (tries to block Bokang) You can’t do that.

But BOKANG has already pushed his way past and walked towards the manager’s office. SEIPATI jumps up and down in anger and frustration. But there is nothing she can do.

PRESS RELEASE...!!!!

WHAT: OPEN TV/FILM ACTING AUDITIONS:
New Look Studios in partnership with The Semihouse Productions, DSK Films, AWIL College and Word of Mouth Pictures presents Free Open Auditions for Talent on Saturday 12 March 2022, from 8am to 6pm at AWIL College, Gaborone Finance Park Campus.

The purpose of these Auditions will be to select fresh and talented Batswana for our Database (for future use) led by Dr Duma Ndlovu and Mr Dingaan Siyabonga Khumalo popularly known as James on Muvhango. Dr Duma Ndlovu is famous for having created popular South African Soapies; Muvhango, Uzalo and Imbewu. He is also the Casting Director for Disney's The Lion King for all their shows worldwide.

So these talented Batswana, who hopefully will impress, will therefore stand a better chance in making it into one of these Productions, should they showcase exceptional qualities.
