🚨Application Form, Self-Report of Medical Conditions, Certified Academic Record/Transcript, Essay/Statement of Purpose, Certificate of Graduation, Letters of Reference, Document proving nationality (e.g., passport copy), Teaching or language proficiency certificates (optional), Criminal Record (if applicable)

Did you know these are the only documents you need for the JET Programme Phase 1 application?🚨

If you don’t have any medical conditions, you don’t need to see a physician. Just fill out the Self-Report of Medical Conditions form and the application form; it’s simple and should take about 30 minutes.

If you don’t have a passport yet, you can submit a copy of your ID but make sure to have a valid passport around the interview date.

If you are a graduate, go to your university and certify copies of your transcript and graduation certificate. This can usually be done in a day, depending on how efficient your university is.

To save time, draft your reference letters before contacting your referees. They can edit, add, or remove information as needed. Once they approve, they can add a letterhead, stamp, and signature, making the process faster.

The statement of purpose is the only part that needs extra time and care. After writing it, share it with friends or family for feedback. Don’t just submit your first draft.

My point: If you’re serious, you can submit your application by Tuesday.

* Today: start with the application form and self medical report.
* Tomorrow: certify your other documents and collect reference letters.

Note: You will be required to do medical tests, police certifications, and submit other documents at the interview stage.
However, if you have a criminal history, you will be required to submit the criminal record now.

Your Statement of Purpose (SOP) is NOT your CV in paragraph form.
The panel reads thousands of applications, tell your story, not your job list‼️

Write from the heart
Be authentic. Let your personality show. This is your chance to stand out.

Be unique
If you have an interesting passion or experience (e.g. music, debate, community work), mention it — especially if you’d love to share it in Japan.

No anime talk
Please avoid writing about anime or pop culture. Your story should be personal, meaningful, and purpose-driven.

Think beyond JET
Explain what you’ll do after JET:
• Promote the programme in your country
• Mentor young people
• Share Japanese culture through education or social media

Focus on impact
Ask yourself:
👉 What can Japan gain from me?
👉 What do I bring to the classroom and community?

Your SOP should answer these (naturally, not in bullets):

• Why do you want to go to Japan and join the JET Programme as an ALT?
• What impact do you hope to have in Japan and internationally?
• What skills, experience, and personal qualities make you a good fit?
• What do you hope to gain personally and professionally, and how will JET help your future goals?

📝 Extra Tips:

✔ Proofread your SOP multiple times
✔ Ask others to read it
✔ Look at sample SOPs online (but don’t copy)
✔ Write multiple drafts
✔ Use tools like Grammarly
✔ Ask yourself: If I were the judge, would I enjoy reading this?

✨ Keep it simple, honest, and MEANINGFUL!!!

JET Programme Application Tips (Less Than 1 Week Left!) 🇯🇵

If you’re applying to the JET Programme, please pay close attention to your reference letters; they matter more than you think!

✅ Your reference letter must:
• Be addressed specifically to the JET Programme Recruiting Committee
• NOT be an old reference
• Be on official letterhead or stamped
• Be clear, direct, and specific

❌ Avoid vague statements like:

“Thato is a hard worker and skilled in her work.”

✅ Instead, your referee should write something like:

“I recommend Thato for the JET Programme because during the time I worked with her as a tutor/teacher/accountant etc, she consistently demonstrated professionalism and dedication. She helped improve learner performance, achieving a 90% pass rate, and completed tasks efficiently. I have no doubt she will excel as an ALT in the JET Programme.”

📌 Important:
Explain to your referee what the JET Programme is about so they can tailor the letter properly.

A strong reference can make or break your application; don’t leave it to chance! 📑🇯🇵

Teaching English Abroad: Why “Any Country” Is a Mistake

One thing I’ve noticed while helping aspiring ESL teachers is that many people don’t actually know where they want to teach.

We say “any country is fine” — but that’s where things go wrong.

When you apply without clarity, your application becomes trial and error, not strategy. Teaching English in Asia and Europe are completely different paths — culturally, financially, and professionally.

If you’re clear about the country you’re applying to, you can:
• Learn the culture
• Attend embassy or cultural events
• Take language classes (even beginner level helps!)
• Join clubs, festivals, or workshops
• Show genuine interest beyond “I just want a job”

This matters.

It shows schools and recruiters that you’re not just coming for a paycheck — you respect the country and want to add value.

NB: You don’t need to do everything.
Just choose a few activities that align with the country you want.

Not an English teacher yet? That’s okay.
• Host a book club
• Run an essay or debate competition
• Tutor non-native speakers
• Start a small English-focused project

Your portfolio matters just as much as your certificate.

And here’s the truth many people don’t like to hear:
You cannot rely on your degree and teaching certificate alone.

You’re already competing with teachers from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Europe — many with strong CVs and native-speaker advantage.

Don’t undermine these activities.
They can take you further than someone with a convincing CV but no cultural intention, no visibility, and no proof of passion.

In 2026, let’s go beyond certificates and application forms.
Build strategy. Build proof. Build visibility.

For the first 3 months of the year:
• Write a plan
• Build your portfolio
• Network intentionally

Good day teachers! To those who received this email from Glats Inc, please not the following;

1. Screening = Tech Check!
This is where they test your equipment live on a video call to make sure it meets their standards. That means:
• ✅ Your laptop must have a clear we**am (built-in or external).
• ✅ Your headset must have great sound (not crackly or echoey).
• ✅ You must be in a quiet and well-lit space. Natural lighting or a ring light works best!

2. Internet Connection Matters!
• In Botswana, please avoid using Mascom—it’s usually too slow for video calls.
• Use Orange or BeMobile/WiFi instead for faster, more stable internet.

3. Be Ready for Questions!
Apart from the tech check, you may be asked:
• Why do you want to teach with Glats Inc?
• What’s your teaching experience?
• Have you worked with students before? What age groups? Etc

4. Do Your Homework!
• Know what kind of students they serve (often ESL learners).
• Understand Glats Inc’s values and mission.
• Be honest—if you claim to have experience, you’ll need to back it up.

Final Tip:
Treat the screening like a mini-interview. Your tech setup, your energy, and your answers matter just as much as your CV!
