Minister responsible for water works Dr Kefentse Mzwinila will officially commission the newly built, designed and completed Mmamashia Water Treatment Plant.

The Mmamashia Water Treatment Plant is crucial to countryโ€™s water infrastructure plan for the Greater Gaborone and surrounding villages and towns. The plant which is said to be one of the biggest plants in Southern Africa located in Mmamashia purifies water from four sources: North South Carrier, Masama, Gaborone Dam, and Bokaa. Raw water from these sources is pumped to the Mmamashia Water Treatment Plant, then distributed almost nationwide.

The Khato Civils/ South Zambezi Joint Venture was awarded the contract for the Design, Supply, Installation, Construction and Commissioning of the Mmamashia Water Treatment Plant by the Water Utilities Corporation (WUC).
