TO APPRECIATE, ENCOURAGE AND INSPIRE THEM
The Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Hon. Motshegwa, met with staff of the North West District Council to express appreciation for their dedication and commitment, especially under limited resources. The engagement provided a valuable platform for employees to raise concerns, reflect on service challenges, and discuss ways to improve operations.
In his address, the Minister called for a renewed culture of high performance aimed at delivering quality public services and achieving citizen satisfaction. He emphasised the need to guard against corruption by promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct across all levels of the Council. He further encouraged improved teamwork, highlighting collaboration as a key driver of productivity and positive change.
Minister Motshegwa stressed the importance of transforming organisational culture to one that is proactive, responsive, and service-oriented. He urged staff to uphold their mandate with professionalism and integrity, despite the constraints they face.
Employees thanked the Minister for engaging them directly and requested a review of working conditions to reflect the realities of their roles. The Deputy Council SecretaryβOperations noted the positive impact of the meeting on staff morale and reaffirmed the Council's commitment to regular engagement with employees and Unions.
The Minister urged management to routinely visit departments, listen to staff, and address concerns promptly to avoid staff grievances that could have been avoided. He underscored the importance of staff morale and motivation as efforts towards triggering productivity. He said as a former Trade Union leader he understands workers challenges and therefore based on his leadership his ministry will be at the forefront of and be exemplary on respecting employees rights and welfare.
