Ngamla Photography came with this idea of having a magazine on local badminton because of the following reasons:
1. VISUAL QUALITY: The visual quality of magazines tends to be excellent because they are printed on high-quality paper that provides superior photo reproduction in both black and white and colour. This production quality often reflects the superior editorial content.
2. FORMAT: People tend to read magazines at a slow rate, typically over a couple of days, so they offer an opportunity to use detailed copy. The magazine format also allows more creative variety through multiple pages and other features.
3.LONG LIFE SPAN: Magazines have the longest life span of all the media. Some magazines, such as National Geographic and Consumer Reports are used as ongoing references and might never be discarded. Other publications, such as TV Guide, are used frequently during a given period of time. In addition, magazines have very high reach potential because of a large pass-along, or secondary, audience of family, friends, customers, and colleagues.
4. KEEPING UP WITH CHANGING TRENDS/TOPICS
Magazines package information in a glossy and attractive way for its readers. They carry updated information about what is trending, a niche topic etc.
5. PASS TIME WITHOUT WASTING IT
Reading magazines may seem like a good pastime on a boring afternoon, but you could be subconsciously gathering a lot of trivia as you lazily flip through its pages. One of the main benefits of reading magazines as a mode of time pass is that you don't know which bit of information might stay in your memory.
You may not think of this when you are going through a magazine waiting for your turn in a doctor's office. But when you abruptly recollect something while having a conversation with someone later on, you may be reminded that you picked up that trivia in a magazine.
6. REDUCE STRESS
Reading magazines of your interest are likely to lighten up your mind and reduce stress levels. Notice how refreshed and rejuvenated you feel after reading a magazine that you love.
Flipping though a magazine can also give you a lot of random ideas, a burst of inspiration or can suddenly uplift your mood if you spot something interesting to catch up on later in the day.
7. INCREASE YOUR VOCUBLARY
Reading a magazine is directly proportional to increasing vocabulary. The added benefit of reading magazines whether they are of health or not, is that they also teach you the context and style in which words should be used.
8. GET INSPIRED AND MOTIVATED
There are some students, players and kids in some parts of the country that might read a story of some athlete, coach or umpire and get motivated to never stop fighting until he/she gets where the person he read about is or even beyond.
9. DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO SUSTAIN A CONVERSATION IN WELL READ NEWS
Over a period of time reading can subconsciously build a whole library of references in your mind. This enables creating associations which in turn help in sustaining conversation, especially in well read circles.
10. Discover information that you may not have searched for in particular
Arguments and discussions about magazines gradually becoming irrelevant and redundant due to their online counterparts are surfacing. This may not hold entirely true because magazines don't give readers an option of giving information which is searched for. Everything is on a platter and it is the reader's choice to read what he or she wants to.
11. REQUIRES NO DATA
Magazines can be bought and read at any time without the hassle of data to go online to read about a story you might have missed.
12. NEWS REACH UNDEVELOPED VILLAGES
Magazines can reach villages which haven't been fully developed in terms of electricity for the use of computers, networks and smartphones.
We at Ngamla Photography would like to personally thank everyone that came up with the idea of having a magazine on local badminton. Your opinions and suggestions are of great help to Botswana Badminton.
