𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒: 𝐀 𝐂𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐓'𝐒 𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘
By Frank Alexander
In a nation that prides itself on justice and fairness, it is deeply disheartening when those entrusted to uphold the law falter. My story is one that underscores the plight of many ordinary citizens who entrust their hard-earned money and hopes to legal professionals, only to be met with negligence, unresponsiveness, and heartbreak.
I am a victim of what I believe to be gross professional misconduct at the hands of a prominent lawyer, Mr. Ngakaagae. Over the past few months, I have endured emotional and financial turmoil as a result of his firm's mishandling of my cases, a betrayal I never anticipated when I sought their assistance.
In October 2024, I sent emails to Mr. Ngakaagae, detailing my concerns about the lack of effort in handling my cases. I had paid a significant amount of money for a deposit at the Court of Appeal, and also to his firm, which also included a certain amount to open my file. Despite these payments, my first case was dismissed on grounds that, according to him, lacked merit. This was shocking, as I had believed there was ample time for the firm to prepare a compelling case.
The second case, which Mr. Ngakaagae himself assured me had a "winning chance," was inexplicably abandoned. His firm withdrew as my attorneys without consulting me, leaving me stranded and betrayed. Attempts to reach his office have been futile—my calls and emails have gone unanswered. Even his staff, when contacted, fail to provide meaningful assistance, instead promising to get back to me but never doing so.
This negligence has not only cost me financially but has also shattered my trust in the legal system. As a result, I have been forced to consider taking my fight to the public domain, not out of malice but out of a desperate need for accountability and justice. If lawyers of Mr. Ngakaagae's standing can treat their clients with such disregard, what hope is there for those who cannot even afford legal representation?
The broader question is this: How many others have suffered in silence due to similar misconduct? How many voices have been silenced by the very institutions meant to amplify them? As a nation, we must demand higher standards of professionalism and accountability from those who wield the power of the law.
I am calling on regulatory bodies, the media, and fellow citizens to help shed light on this issue. The legal profession is not above scrutiny, and it is time for clients like myself to be heard. Our legal institutions must prioritize the rights and interests of the people, not just the profits of the privileged.
My plea is simple: I seek justice—not just for myself but for all those who have been wronged in similar circumstances. It is my hope that by bringing this matter to public attention, we can inspire reforms that ensure no one else endures what I have endured.
Efforts to get a comment from Ngakaagae were futile as his number was unavailable.
