Jetour has announced plans to begin local production of its popular T-Series models in South Africa from 2027, marking a major boost for the country’s automotive industry. The news was revealed at Auto China 2026 in Beijing, one of the world’s largest motor shows.
Backed by the Chery Group, Jetour’s move follows Chery’s acquisition of the Rosslyn plant, signalling its shift from importer to manufacturer. The facility is expected to produce up to 50,000 vehicles annually and create over 3,000 jobs.
Since launching locally in October 2025, the Jetour T1 and T2 have already sold more than 4,500 units, exceeding expectations. The brand has also introduced plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions as part of a broader shift towards electrification and intelligent mobility.
The move positions South Africa as a key hub in Jetour’s global strategy and highlights growing confidence in the local market.
