The Range Rover Sport now goes fully electric for the first time, and the new Range Rover Sport Electric is available to order in South Africa.
Two 260 kW motors deliver up to 404 kW and 850 Nm, the most torque of any Range Rover Sport. Land Rover claims 0-100 km/h in as little as 4.3 seconds in Dynamic Launch Mode, matching the P530 V8 model. The 118.5 kWh battery gives up to 609 km of WLTP range, and the 800-volt architecture can add up to 220 km in as little as 10 minutes.
It is still a Range Rover when the tar ends. Virtual all-wheel drive, a 900 mm wading depth and the ability to climb 45-degree inclines come standard. The body is 61 percent stiffer and the centre of gravity 73 mm lower than the plug-in hybrid models, and Adaptive Dynamics, Electronic Active Roll Control and All-Wheel Steering sharpen the handling. To prove it, Range Rover took it up the Carrara marble quarries in Italy.
It is available in Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, Autobiography and First Edition specifications. The battery is covered by an eight-year/160,000 km warranty.

The Grootman has arrived. Chery South Africa has revealed the name of its first-ever bakkie, and it was chosen by South Africans. Rooted in Afrikaans and meaning "big man", Grootman is a local expression of respect for someone who has earned their standing and can be relied on.
The hybrid bakkie pairs a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine with electric power and four-wheel drive. Preliminary combined outputs are 350 kW and 800 Nm, with an electric-only range of up to 100 km on the NEDC cycle.
Key figures:
Braked towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg
Load box of 1,560 mm long, 1,560 mm wide and 500 mm high
Ground clearance of at least 230 mm when fully loaded
Vehicle-to-Load functionality to power tools and camping appliances
The Grootman is planned for a South African launch in the first quarter of 2027. Final specifications, pricing and the local model line-up will be announced closer to launch.

Subaru has laid out the facts on the Forester Sport and Premium, the two top derivatives in the Forester range. Both use Subaru's 2.5-litre Boxer petrol engine, which produces 136 kW and 247 Nm and drives all four wheels through a Lineartronic CVT and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Performance is the same across both: 0-100 km/h in 9.7 seconds, with combined fuel consumption of 7.9 L/100 km.
The Sport goes for a rugged look, with 18-inch black alloy wheels, matt black roof rails and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with green stitching. The Premium is the more refined pick, with black and silver machined alloys, leather seats, brown stitching and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
Both come with a power sliding sunroof, an 11.6-inch touchscreen, a powered rear gate, X-Mode with Hill Descent Control and 220 mm of ground clearance. The boot holds 496 litres, growing to 1,174 litres with the rear seats folded, and towing capacity is 1,500 kg. Subaru EyeSight safety technology is standard, along with a full set of airbags.
Both models carry a five-year/150,000 km warranty and a five-year/105,000 km maintenance plan.

Ford South Africa has added all-wheel drive to its premium people-mover, with the new Ford Tourneo Titanium X AWD. It joins the existing front-wheel-drive Titanium X in the Tourneo line-up.
Power comes from the 2.0-litre EcoBlue four-cylinder turbo-diesel, producing 125 kW and 390 Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic. The AWD system shifts drive between the front and rear wheels according to available grip, which helps on wet roads, gravel and other low-grip surfaces. Six drive modes are on offer: Normal, Eco, Slippery, Tow/Haul, Sport and Trail.
It seats eight in leather-appointed comfort, and the rear seats can be removed for extra luggage space or turned around to create a conference-style area. Standard tech includes a 13-inch SYNC 4 touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Matrix LED headlights, a 360-degree camera and a full suite of driver assistance systems. The optional Lux pack adds heated second-row seats, a 14-speaker B&O sound system and a panoramic roof, while the Mobile Office pack even turns the steering wheel into a table when parked.

JMC has launched the all-new Grand Avenue in South Africa, a flagship double-cab bakkie aimed squarely at families and weekend adventurers. Salvador Caetano South Africa is bringing it in, and it is built on a completely new platform.
It measures 5.45 metres long and 1.94 metres wide. The engine produces 155 kW and 500 Nm and is paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic. The 4x4 models use a part-time BorgWarner four-wheel-drive system, with an 800 mm wading depth and a 3.5-tonne towing rating. Claimed fuel consumption is 7.2 L/100 km.
Inside, you get standard leather seats, a 12.3-inch tiltable touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and rear doors that open to 75 degrees. Safety kit includes ABS, EBD and ESP, and there is a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors.

BMW has unveiled the new 3 Series, and it brings a first for the nameplate: a fully electric version, the BMW i3, built on the Neue Klasse platform.
In South Africa, the i3 50 xDrive will be available from launch. It produces 345 kW and 645 Nm, reaches 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and offers up to 912 km of WLTP range from its 108.7 kWh battery. DC charging of up to 400 kW can add up to 423 km of range in ten minutes.
For petrol fans, the new M350 xDrive is the flagship. Its 3.0-litre straight-six with 48V mild hybrid technology makes 326 kW and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. It also introduces a new Drift Moment feature, which sends power to the rear wheels only. The range also includes the four-cylinder BMW 320 with 155 kW.
The new BMW 3 Series models are expected in South Africa from the first quarter of 2027. Final local specification will be confirmed closer to launch.

BMW has sharpened the X3 M50 xDrive with a new Black Package and a power bump. The straight-six now makes 326 kW, up 33 kW, which cuts the 0-100 km/h sprint to 4.4 seconds (4.1 seconds with one-foot rollout).
The Black Package adds 22-inch Polygon 1134 M Black alloy wheels, high-gloss black brake callipers, M logos and badges, and an extensively Alcantara-trimmed interior with blue stitching and piping. The power increase is not tied to the package, so every X3 M50 xDrive benefits from it.
For South African buyers, the Black Package is expected by the third quarter of 2027.

GWM has expanded the Tank 500 line-up with a new 3.0-litre turbodiesel derivative, giving buyers a torque-focused option built for serious touring and towing.
The engine produces 170kW and 620Nm, with 385Nm already on tap from just 1,000rpm, paired to GWM's own nine-speed automatic and a part-time 4WD system. It has been through extensive durability testing, including million-kilometre test-bench work, and can tow up to 3.5 tonnes.
Despite the workhorse credentials, the cabin stays premium: seven seats, genuine leather, an 8-way adjustable driver's seat with heating, ventilation and massage, plus Coffee OS 3.0 connectivity. Safety is well covered too, with adaptive cruise, lane centering, AEB with pedestrian detection and a full suite of driver-assist tech.

GWM South Africa has launched a new addition to its P500 line-up: a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel powertrain, the first of its kind in the range.
The engine produces 170kW and 620Nm of torque, paired with a self-developed nine-speed automatic transmission. With 385Nm available from just 1,000rpm, it delivers strong low-end pulling power for towing, climbing and heavy loads, backed by a 3.5-tonne towing capacity.
GWM says the powertrain has undergone six vibration and noise-reduction measures, keeping idle noise at no more than 68dB for refinement closer to a premium petrol engine.
Inside, the P500 gets a 14.6-inch touchscreen running GWM's Coffee OS 3.0, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a Head-Up Display, and massage, heating and ventilated leather seats. Safety kit includes Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree surround view with Transparent Chassis, seven airbags and a body structure that's over 85 percent high-strength steel.
